Bold prediction, Well outside the realm being discussed currently.

Rainy, Dreary in Seattle.. Typical Washington night it appears.

2nd minute, RSL Findley takes a run from half, into the corner and crosses to open space, met by dead air.

Andy Williams goes forward, ball played inside. Quick thinking in the LA back field clears to safety, resulting throw goes no where. RSL in control so far, but by no means an advantage

Morales feels a tackle from Beckham on the knee, on the floor for a bit - Play back on, however Morales has gone back down for treatment and is either in great discomfort or needs an Emmy.

Talk of a substitute coming in the air, Morales however is back on having words with Beckham..

Harmless challenge really, Beckham appears to extend the olive branch but Morales wants none of it.

10 man RSL currently

25th minute, Findley takes a ball from Beckerman, however linesman flag is up..

Back up field, Ball takes a bounce and Galaxy strike, Rimando with the quick save.

The pitch quality is of debate, very slick so far.

it's MLS Cup not the world cup.

I'm even surprised he gives a shit. He grew up in argentina... he probably has no concept of this game mattering at all.

and the game ain't over. If his team wins, he can stop his baby crying.

He's breaking down WAY too much for a professional athlete. Even Donovan wouldn't do that.

Beckham to Donovan blazing up the middle, through ball to Buddle nipped at the end, back up field to Findley who runs at Berhalter.. Findley takes off like a gazelle, Berhalter needs oxygen but play is pushed out of space at the bi-line...

The MLS Cup is the equivalent of the FA Cup in North America. Regardless, it's the biggest trophy in North American "local" soccer besides the US Open Cup (which isn't really all that "open" actually).

Gixmo
11-22-2009, 09:25 PM
28th : Beckham corner kick, looks like Omar Gonzalez gets a tip of the foot to it.. Rimando is stuck to concrete however saved his blushes as the ball floats over the cross bar.. Not very confident goal keeping there, confusion in the box

Beckham free kick, 40 yards out .. curls into the box, Referee Stott spots a foul.. harmless

(Regardless of Cup stature.. You don't play a season to come out early..)

Gixmo
11-22-2009, 09:28 PM
LA Galaxy applying the pressure now, look to be capitalizing on some confusion in the RSL backline....

32nd minute and the Ole Ole's Real, Salt Lake... are already out and rollin... Bit early I might add.. Nothing really worth Ole'n about yet :)

Apparently... Ricketts sucks and is an asshole? :)

Will Johnson gallops off the line, eyes up the middle.. Crosses over, cleared by Gonzalez...

... Landon Donovan picks it up, Galaxy 3 on 2, Over to Mcgee who tries his luck and is wide.. Edson Buddle may have been the intended target... Best chance of the match so far.

Galaxy really exposing the RSL backline, who do not seem to be on the same page

Gixmo
11-22-2009, 09:35 PM
Donovan on the bounce, takes a book out of Bobby Zamora's finishing diary and puts the ball into row Z.. Lots of build up so far, but neither really with the clinical finish..

As I type, another cross from Donovan into the box cleared by a diving Russell..

Galaxy Birchell carded, slight molestation of Clint Mathis on the quick throw.. Poor first touch from Mathis exposed that one.

Galaxy 3 on 1, bouncy ball from Beckham takes a skip on the turf.. Over to Buddle and the linesman flag is up, but many do not agree

Galaxy back up field - A near carbon copy of the last attack, running at full space... Beckham to Donovan who takes it wide out right and lays a perfect ball to the back post. McGee can write a book before he puts it into the net.

1-0 to the Galaxy,

Gixmo
11-22-2009, 09:43 PM
Nearing the end of the first half, entering stoppage time - Fairly reserved start with LA clearly picking up momentum as the half wore on.

2 mins of stoppage time, Bit surprising.. Obviously, SAF is not present.

Free kick after a foul of Beckerman, Long ball in from Williams to Mathis forces some quick thinking with Ricketts who scoops up the danger.

Landon Donovan has been shot by a sniper, rolling in agony - Right in the gut it appears.. however no call is coming, the Berry Juice has been taken and he's back at it without a stoppage in play.

Oldtimer
11-22-2009, 09:43 PM
Embarrassing simulation by Landycakes.

Gixmo

Half time upon us - Giggle Giggle, Kasey Keller is on the air!

McGee has LA up 1-0, Half way home..

Debate - (2-0 Scoreline looking nice now!!)

Gixmo
11-22-2009, 09:46 PM
My thoughts...

Unless RSL can tie this up quickly, and provided LA carries momentum into the second half this could turn rather ugly if RSL commit members forward. Beckham is truly on tonight and exploiting minor areas of space. If Donovan can stay on his feet (He's been good really) and Kevin Stott lets the game run it's course, We could see a real thumping coming the RSL way.

RSL simply is performing like blue balls.. really, the build up play is nice however there is no finish.. and that my friends, hurts

sulfur

RSL's definitely suffering the loss of a healthy Morales in the midfield.

Anyone noticed that Becks is being used in a sort of Pirlo role, the axis of the team, distributing passes up the pitch? Only difference is that he isn't playing as deep. This is the role he's most effective in IMO, and I think the one he was used in at Milan by Ancelotti, except that at Milan he played deeper in the midfield. His passing skills are wasted when he plays wide right IMO.

Oh noes!

Robbie Findley explodes down the line, Onside this time, .. Cuts inside, poor touch to control and Ricketts meets him head on.. Big time collision here with both Findley/Ricketts laid out on the floor..

Findley takes a straight boot right to the head from Ricketts.. Ricketts appears to have made contact with Gonzalez and looks worse for wear here

Findley back up.. Ricketts, not so much. Ricketts wears a cleat from Gonzalez who was tracking back... Trainers working the right hand on Ricketts while Josh Saunders warms up. Could be a substitution of goalkeepers here...

Ricketts back up, but looks like there is some pain there.. turning point?

Pinball in the LA box, Robbie Findley all over the place like Mighty Mouse, collects a rebound and slots it home from the 6.. tie game

Ricketts has the gloves off, Do we have an injury here??? Appears that we have a substitution coming here. Kevin Stott is over with Ricketts

Trainers on, and Ricketts is off.. Josh Saunders coming into goal for RSL

Note : Ricketts didn't really appear to be pushing it there.. Yet he comes up injured? Bit of an odd sub here.. Contusion on the end... Welcome to the boiling pot Mr. Saunders.. No warm up, and play is picking up here...

Note 2 : Mr. Ricketts becomes the first GK substitution in MLS Cup history... Workplace trivia!

More LA, Buddle witih the shot, spilled by Rimando and cleared from danger.. Galaxy pick it back up, and thump it downfield... Out for an LA Corner.. to Buddle who's effort results in a corner.. Delivery from Beckham to the penalty spot again

We're playing pinball in the RSL box.. Countless crosses from Beckham who is being given a generous amount of room to work with however the finish is not there for LA

RSL seem like they are sitting back, 85th minute.. 5 to extra time and PK's if we still don't have a winner.
