I swear I saw a tweet from Paul Beirne saying that we got to keep our first round pick because Ibrahim didn't play ten matches.

Did I imagine this?

Apologies if this has been posted/discussed already.

I know that there was something about Ibrahim not playing over a certain amount of games this year. But I thought we traded our first round pick to Dallas ?

Old article, but I think they will get our second round pick...if I am not mistaken....Ibby only appeared in 6 matches

FC Dallas will acquire Toronto’s natural first round selection if: Ibrahim plays in 10 or more 2009 MLS regular season games, or, if he is sold or loaned, or traded to another MLS team before the 2010 MLS SuperDraft. If none of the condition above are met, Dallas will receive Toronto’s natural second round selection in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft. In addition, Dallas will receive 50 percent of any transfer fee if Ibrahim is transferred from an MLS club to one overseas.

IN EXCHANGE FOR 1st ROUND DRAFT PICK AND ALLOCATION MONEY

FRISCO, Texas (Tuesday, February 24, 2009) – FC Dallas today acquired Toronto FC’s natural first round selection in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft and allocation money in exchange for defender Adrian Serioux.
The 29-year-old started all 34 regular season games he appeared in during his two seasons with FCD, including all four positions on the back line and as a defensive midfielder. His career-high four assists in 2008 were good for second on the team.
Serioux was originally acquired by FCD from Toronto on Nov. 17, 2006, although he never played for the Canadian club. Toronto had selected the defender in that day’s expansion draft before sending him to Dallas along with the club’s second round 2007 MLS SuperDraft pick (14th overall) in exchange for midfielder Ronnie O’Brien.
Dallas also holds Toronto FC’s natural second round pick in the 2010 SuperDraft, which was acquired in a 2008 trade that sent Abdus Ibrahim to Toronto.

Is it possible this means we weren't allowed to play Ibrahim?

Since the price agreed to could not be paid.

Interesting...or maybe the first round selection was nixed once the Serioux deal was made......but it could explain his lack of playing time?

Most likely. We don't have a pick for first two rounds.

Mo needs to trade an asset (Wynne?) to get a draft pick. And yes, I hope TFC can somehow get Teal Bunbury. :)

I think the 24th minute was asking Paul if we still got our 1st round pick b/c Ibby didn't play 10 games. It was not a tweet made by Paul.

I don't think we have a 1st or 2nd round pick this year.

1st to Dallas for Serioux
2nd to Dallas for Ibby.

He's pretty rough. Speed and a good turn but he's a long way from pro ready by numerous accounts.

As I understood it, Ibby would have cost TFC a future 1st rounder if he played more than 10 games this year.

Toronto do not have their own first or second round selection, but they do have a second round pick they got from Colorado in the trade that sent forward Gregory Richardson to the Rapids.

The Reds also do not have their third round selection which went to San Jose in the trade for Garcia. From my understanding the Reds still owe Chivas a draftpick from the trade for Amado, which was conditional draftpicks in 2009 and 2010.

Toronto still has their own fourth round selection, for whats that worth, who knows.
