SHITEBULLS to participate in 2010 Football World Series

Red Bull Arena to serve as host venue for the four-match international tournament...

If we are ever to host such tournaments.....we'll have to make a new BMO!

Cant wait to see TFC play there!

It's so prestigious that if you're the worst team in MLS history, you qualify.

The 2010 version of the summer tournament will also be staged in Amsterdam, Holland; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; and Shanghai, China. The New York Red Bulls will serve as the host and participate as one of the four teams in the four-match tournament. In each of the four locations for 2010, a four-team tournament that features some of the top soccer clubs in the world will be staged.

i can go watch it in Shanghai :D

I must say the RB stadium is looking sweet. WTF why didnt we get a tournament when BMO was brand spankin new?

Basically, it looks like an excessively hyped and advertised series of pre-season friendlies that I'm betting are about on par with the usual North American and Asian tours these clubs do, featuring their u-17s against sides like NYRB.

It sounds more on par with the Amsterdam Tournament or Emirates Cup. Given that it's a tournament format you might see more than just U17s.

I wish Toronto would get something like this. I mean now that BMO will have grass and the CNE has the rights to the stadium while the CNE is on it would be awesome if the CNE Cup would be expanded to feature four teams.

Only problem is that the CNE runs pretty right at the start of most leagues.

But yeah a four team tournament sans TFC at BMO would be sweet.

I would certainly go.

^ Depends on what teams/players would be there, but yeah, I'd like that as well.

Why have I never heard of this tournament?
I guess it's not a very big deal.
Good publicity for Red Bull and their new arena at least.

ya its just to get people in New York City to come see the bran new stadium and attract publicity to it. The hope is people will then start to come out and support the Red Bulls and MLS in the future. They curently average like 12,000 a game at the old Giant stadium. Sdo hopefully then can attract 25,000 in the new stadium.
