This one goes out to Kevvv, as he is an accounting number crunching genius, as well as punn meister extraordinaire, how much money do you think the RPB, and RPB board regulars have given to TFC to date?

My very rough, of the top callculation, without thinking very long or hard on the subject, is that on average each person spends about $1000.00 per season,( tickets, concenssion, parking ect), and as there are 2850 members of the board, that means that we have contributed 2,850,000.00 per season, or 8,550,000.00 for all three seasons. What do you think Kevvv?

WOW!
I'm in for at least $5000....
STH since day 1 (2 seats) , merch. (for me and gifts) , away games .....

My point is that as a group we have some sway, if we act as a group. Did they not pay, $10,000,000.00 for the franchise. By season for we have paid them more then that. What we pay covers the on the filed pay roll.

So different for everyone.

How a bout a pair of prawny tickets - say, $900 per season (close enough).

You have food or drink each game, let's say 2 of the 20oz beers at $10/ea. Call it another $5 for water/large beer/slice of pizza. $25 for my seat. If you bring a kid, you save on the beer but add more food, say $10. So $35 for the pair. Maybe a=one jersey per year (or a jersey one year, assorted scarfs, hoodies, and red Carlsberg wigs the other year). $100.

Gotta get there - call parking $10. Gas is 'free' because I would have wasted it doing errands anyway. Go for a drink after the game. Or two. Let's say $20 because I like Guiness plus another $15 for whoever I'm with.

So I have: $35 + $10 + $20 + $15 times 15 games = $1,200
Tickets = $2,000
Merch = $100

Total - $3,300

Wait, you followed the team to one of North America's dream destinations? Add at least $200 per trip. Say twice, so $3,700. That's after tax, so you have to make around 5 or 6 grand to pay for it. (Unless your Parky, and you write it off because you work for MLSE on the side.)

Cheap tix, knock off say $1500.

So $1,800 x 3 seasons = $5,400 per member

too right.
when i bring a mate to a match , they buy me a beer(or 2) , and pay for parking or transit.
just a "cheers mate" y'know....?
where's my "cheers mate" from FO?

I spent well over $1000 a year. I probably spend about $2000 in stuff directly related to the team (merch, BMO-beers, parking etc) factor in road trips (KC alone was about $750) and my season average is probably $2500. Now, TFC only gets a portion of that but they probably pocket $1000 from me each year.

more than $15,000 since inception, season tickets + merchandise + beer at game + all the road trips including Puerto Rico + my attorney fees and speeding ticket for the embarrassment in NYRB recently

ouch... i could have saved that for a down payment of a house you know...

Lots - but I make sure MLSE sees as little as humanly possible (1 low-end season ticket only). 12 away games in the last 2 years. Stopped buying shitty MLSE overpriced beer and no more merch. Told my family I dont want anything TFC related for gifts.

Against Modern Football. Against ML$E greed.

$1800 in seats + $500 in concessions (we spend about $30 a game) = $2300. X3 seasons = $6900.00. Ouch.

Not counting away trips? They tend to add quite a bit to the budget.

$2500 in season tickets.
$500 in merchandise.
$500 in concessions.

Away trips add about $1500 but that doesn't go to TFC.

How a bout a pair of prawny tickets - say, $900 per season (close enough).

I wish that was 'close enough'.

$4000 in tickets
$3000 for away trips (Carolina is expensive)
$500 in merch and swag
$1000 in food drinks and entertainment

supporting my team and not worrying about the cost = priceless

(besides, if TFC never came around, I'd be dropping the cash on something else, like travel or a boat or a car)

$400 on a trio of official shirts
$2000 on four flights (LA, SJ, Seattle, Toronto)
Countless amounts for food, accomms, etc.

I don't know, but that's at least $4-5K. But do I care? Feh!

akoto
11-14-2009, 07:44 PM
At least 6-7K.

2 season tix -year one
4 season tix -year two
4 season tix -year three
4 season tix year four
Columbus twice
Montreal twice
Chicago tickets purchased but couldn't go.
3 jerseys with lettering
Red Hoodie
30 bucks a game in concessions.

No wonder I'm in debt.

edit: after really looking at this I have to be over 7K.

And how about the 75 Mile Bastards...
The ticket for the game is the cheap part. Gas for the car, meals and in some cases having to pay for an overnite place to stay.
I only make 6 or so games a year but they are all away games and run a minimum of $100. each.

The point I was starting that even if we keep it low, and I kept it low, at $1000.00 a average member, we as a group put alot of money in MLSE pockets. Which is not a bad thing. If we keep organized and together we can have influence over the club. Also not a bad thing.

I do not even know what I am paying for my seasons right now. My wife does the home accounts.

Now, it depends. When you say "on TFC" do you mean directly to the MLSE franchise Toronto FC, or just anything for, in, and around the TFC experience?

If we're only talking money that has gone to MLSE/TFC, then it's limited to season's tickets, merch and concessions. However, if you count road trips, (flights, hotels, food, souvenirs, game tickets) pre- and post-game time at bars, time at bars for away viewings, and any misc items (some of us bought cameras just for the games) then it gets really high.

I had 2 STs in 108 the first year and 1 ST second year, I moved to 110 before the 3rd season. Add in 4 Adidas scarves, a t-shirt, a warmup shirt, a customized jersey, tickets for the ASG, RM friendly, the 1st Canadian Championship, add some food and parking and I'm looking at about $4000, just going to MLSE.

For the non-MLSE stuff, I spend about $45 in gas to get to and from each game and $3.50 for the bridge toll, and food in both directions usually around Grimsby, because going to a game is usually about 13 hours from the time I leave my house to the time I get home. Then there are trips to Columbus x2, NYC, and Boston, and the $300 speeding ticket I got on the way to Columbus in '08.

Although it doesn't actually cost me anything, there is also the vacation time I have to use to get to BMO for a weeknight game, usually half-a-day.

Just thinking about this makes my wallet hurt.

If you include the season's tix (3 years of prawns until now), the apparel, the beer, the GO Train, and the very occasional food purchase on evening matches and I would say it's not far off the $10,000 range. Year one I was spending $112.50 on beer every match. Then I got smarter as the seasons went on. Still a lot of cash to drop.

Well, this is my plight as well since we split the seats and the driving/parking costs. Well, I didn't pay for the first season tickets, because I only went to two games before I became obsessed. Plus, other swag bought at the games and RPB stuff(Many scarves from Coach!).
