It was going to be one of those two...Frei had a great first year and should help the team to better things in 201o..

Gonzalez was awesome... Frei fizzled out, but still could be the best thing to come out of that draft.

That's SBI's rookie of the year. Easy to make that mistake. Ives chose Omar last week. I suspect MLS will choose the same but they will make that known later today.

For Frei to be doing this well at his age is a great thing.
Keepers usually reach their peak later than others.
If this holds true for Stefan, then he should have a productive career.
Could end up being the best keeper in MLS (assuming he doesn't head off to another league).

end result was that gonzalez helped significantly to his team that got to playoffs. frei's team didn't

probably biggest reason why gonzalez got the nod over frei

Gonzalez got better as the season wore on. Frei's play tailed off as the season wore on. People don't remember the first 10 games of the season as much as the last 10 games and Omar looked good the 2-3 times I watched the Galaxy down the stretch.

Frei looked ok but not ROY material.
