LA v Chivas
5pm today on GolTV

This is the first time that two American professional sports teams using the same facility have met in the playoffs since the 1944 World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Browns, who shared Sportsman’s Park.

Back in the day, ABC used to have Saturday afternoon games. And they'd show most of the playoffs too.

The ratings were so abysmal that they replaced it with infomercials!

Just be happy we get to see anything at all!

It's funny how Beckham said that they "have unity" as a team after the high profile beef between Donovan and Bekcham, and Beckham vs the team...

Maybe bringing out the posions out in the open between what camps don't get along with who at TFC will do us good...

I've noticed that LA fans always show up fashionably late for sporting events. I don't know why. Traffic in So Cal is always bad I guess?

Oh that was insightful
Can't you just watch a game for what it is?
Why always point out what isn't there?
Point out what is there!! There are about 20,000 fans, which is great.
95% of all soccer teams in the world would kill for those number, and those include teams in Serie A, La Liga, and elsewhere in Europe.
Enjoy the game. Enough of the negative talk. :)

And no 20,000 fans is not great, in LA, for two home teams, in what is supposed to be a heated rivalry, in the playoffs.

I don't which angles you speak of because they are far away. Also, there are enough empty seats dispersed among the lower bowl where people are sitting.

They did say 25,000, which another poster here mentioned. Consideirng the empty seats it seems a bit much, but whatever, it was a good crowd - regardless of not selling out.

Tickets sold - not butts in seat. TFC sells out every game, but towards the end of the season the stadium looked more like 80% full (sign of things to come unless the club makes significant change to management).

Don't you mean unless the team starts winning more games? Quite a few sports teams have shown changing management often does nothing (have you seen any of the protest surrounding the Cleveland Browns?). I'm a little worried, actually, that by putting all the emphasis on changing management we give ownership and the players easy excuses.

There was something in this thread earlier about the LA players getting their issues out on the open and dealing with them. Sometimes that's the only way to do it, but will it happen at TFC if it's not forced, or if there's something else to blame the problems on?

Shakes McQueen

I actually tend to lean that way too. I think that by focusing on MLSE and the front office so much, we are actually giving the players too big of a pass sometimes.
