Walking outiside my office to get lunch and saw JDG getting out of his Hummer (With distinctive plate!!). I usually I don't aproach famous people but had to go over and say Hi.
Super nice guy, aproachable and genuinely happy to meet a fan.
That made my day....:scarf:

EDIT

The only famous person I ever met was Parkdale and he was very rude, and clearly had no time for any fans. After that experience I will never approach a celebrety again.

here's an unrelated story...

I'm crossing Queen west at spadina about 6 years ago, and a big black hummer cuts right in front of us and my buddy yells at them and flips them the finger. The truck stops. I see the license place, and it's 'TKO 1', which I recognized from a music video I worked on.... it was Lennox Lewis. He might not have been driving the truck at the time, but I wasn't going to stick around to find out.

I think it was a parkdale impersonator. In fact, if he was driving a red saab or the event happened in Bolton, I think we can narrow down the suspects.

I have to give credit to guys like Bobby Orr and Don Cherry, especially Cherry. You might not like Cherry but you have to respect him. This guy loves his fans. I've seen him get swarmed by people night after night at times and even I want to slug some of the people that approach him.

Okay here is my story of meeting or being near someone famous. I was at a club on Yorkville back in the day the Copa (Ya I'm old if anyone remembers this club) I go to the bathroom and I'm at the urinal and in walks some guy and goes to one of the urinals. Once I'm done I walk towards the sink to wash my hands and notice the person at the urinal through the mirrow, it was John Candy, probably one of the best comics Canada has ever produced.

I went to the real Senator O'Connor. The one that had 2 buildings, one of them partly condemned and the other shaped like a crazy octogon. Not like the single building they have now...pfft. pussies.

Maestro went to OCS and came back for the reunion early in the 2000's. The post party was at Fox and the Fiddle, where Maestro grabbed the mic for an impromptu

you forgot to mention that we also had a portable building....prime locker real-estate. big lockers for my rugby stuff.

some years back back i was in a car with my buddy and we pulled up to a jaguar... i stared into the car and the passenger was some seriously hot and i mean super hot woman.... I start blowing kisses at her and my buddy who was driving yells at me " dude look at the driver" I looked further in and there was LLoyd Mosbey driving the car and giving us the "hey dude like my hot chick" look and we were all just celebrating not only the super hot women but a really cool baseball player from Toronto blue jays.. i was shocked he didn't pull over and beat us to death.. I think he kinda liked the fact we dug his super sexy women with him..

^ NTCI gould never beat Northern, too many rich prepy WASPS at NT. To gentle for football, not hungry enough. Northern and Central Tech, were all the non-WASPS used to go kicked their assess. I new many, of the guys from the Central Tech team in particular.

FYI Northern beat Central Tech today, not as organized but BIG hearts....semi-finals........mud bowl, huge hits,

Is it me or does RPB over-index on Catholics (or at least people who went to Catholic high schools)?

My theory: you're all lapsed Catholics, and you've replaced your weekly worship with TFC. Communion is in the parking lot (the church hall). A lot less kneeling and sitting, more standing.

My own theory is that there are Raelians on this board. A lot.

Lapsed protestant myself (and fiercely proud of it... I guess). And yes. Football is religion to me.

The ground = church
Our songs = hymns
Jack Warner = The Devil

Kiefer Sutherland went there didnt he?

When the draft was here a few years ago I met Scott Stevens, hes a great guy and actually really small compared to what you see on TV. Also have met Steve Yzerman a few times, I hate him hes a jerk and he thinks he is the greatest (hes probably top 50).

Yes he did for like 1 year and was in my cousin's classes. He SKIPPED ALOT
and even took off to film the Bay Boy.

My cousin has told me everyone knew who he was (Donald's son) but they really had no idea he'd be this big.

Its more of the public high school (Meadowvale) is scary and there is always stabbings or things going on there.

right, Paul notices a trend and points it out, makes a light-hearted joke, and it's somehow part of MLSE's grand plan

We've cornered the Italian and Irish market of TFC supporters.

That's why we're always drinking and building things (banners count as building!)

I'd definitely say more Portuguese and less Italians. Those Italians are smart enough not to get their hearts broken by this team.

By the way Shaker was one of my favourites.

Orange Day parades they still have them downtown. I would say that while I understand the point Kevvv, I think of WASP as usualy Anglican/English, Orange is Northern Irish Scotish protestant. One would watch tennis/rugby the other Rangers. But those two groups held alot of power in this town for a long time. Anyway another topic.

As their website states, "Only a fool would expect the same thing twice from Gordie Johnson"

From Wikipedia:

The band broke up in 2004, after, according to the band's website, Johnson became frustrated with Canadian radio programmers who claimed his single "All Hell for a Basement" was "too Canadian" (as to the song refers the province of Alberta (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alberta)). Johnson, a staunch nationalist, was disgusted and angry and left Canada to pursue music in a more "open, welcoming" environment.
