Thanks for the news... Why don't we ever play friendlies at home?! After all, I thought it was all about 'maximizing ticket revenue' anyway...?

Not to mention, our friendlies should be against the Central American and Caribbean sides that we can never seem to get past. Sigh.

I'm sure the coverage of the Macedonia game will all encompassing. That reminds me I still need one of those "Sack the CSA" shirts.

I mean we're playing a game. That's great. Try one at home and tell us a couple months in advance instead of a couple of weeks. Then you'll get more money to figure out how run the organisation better.

I'm not sure but I think you have to pay a team to come to your country. Easier for the CSA to travel and get paid than pay out I guess.

Major League Soccer shows how the beautiful game brings races together:

MLS earns high marks again for diversity
(AP) – 13 hours ago
NEW YORK — Major League Soccer once again earned high marks for its racial and gender hiring.
The league received its third consecutive A for racial hiring on Tuesday from the University of Central Florida's Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport. Its gender grade improved to a B from a C-plus last year and a D-plus in 2007.
"The sport of soccer is such a diverse sport between our athletes and fan base," MLS executive vice president JoAnn Neale said. "We're really striving to make our front offices reflective of that diversity."

However, some in Europe have failed to learn that lesson:

Edu tweets he was racially abused by own fans

(AP) — GLASGOW, Scotland - Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu has claimed he was racially abused by two of his own club's fans after a 4-1 home loss to Unirea Urziceni in the Champions League.

The news last week that Avram Grant was approached by Red Bull New York should be encouraging for MLS fans. This sort of move to bring in a technical director and a manager who has actually accomplished something on the club level and international level, (previous Red Bull/Metros managers like Carlos Alberto Parriera, Carlos Quiroez and Bora Milutinovic all had been away from the European/North American club game for a while when hired.) should be emulated across the league.

so when we were in the same state (the USSF) 30 years ago as the CSA is now, we started to just play every freaking central american minnow team that had a big population in a city and would play them in that city. True we still have a lot of 'away' games in the States, but you know what, it's a money maker. Their main problem is sponsorship money. The have no exposure whatsoever, so it's a chicken or the egg thing I guess. They don't play home matches, why don't they just use the Rogers Centre in cold months? Toronto has a lot of different populations and even those who aren't here would come to games vs. Honduras, El Salvador, etc. You don't have the luxury that we have of California, Texas, Florida to hold matches in the snow months that we do down there so make the best of it. Hell you don't even have to bring central american teams, we used to bring Venezuala, Colombia, Chile, Uruguay up too.

To bring in games that would do very well at the gate would probably start to show potential sponsors this is worth some sort of investment. It's frustrating that outside of WQC there has been what 1 senior men's team match in Canada (I may be wrong, but I thought there was one a couple years ago).

anyway, here are the coed girls for today 1 (http://coedmagazine.com/category/girls/daily-snapshot-girls-2/) and 2 (http://coedmagazine.com/category/girls/miss-coed/)

Do what the US does, have an A squad (mainly Euro Based) and a B squad mainly MLS based (although you'd have to mix in some of the USL boys here).

because the CSA is actually run by central americans who dont want canada to ever qualify for the world cup, so their countries can...or at least that is the only thing I can think of to explain the stupidity coming from the CSA.

Lets think of the glass half-full for this one instead...

We're not playing at home as our National Stadium (BMO Field) is having the beautiful grass pitch installed this fall/winter/spring...

Once the sod becomes a proper field, we'll try for some home matches...

Positive thinking this week - positive vibes...!!!
