We need People @ BMO FIELD WEDNESDAY NIGHT

No one likes to cleanup... let's be honest. But we need lots and lots of people WEDNESDAY NIGHT to fold the banner and get it out of BMO FIELD.

My apologies for the short notice, but we were considering alternatives before calling on the Calvary.

Well we need the Calvary...

http://healeylibrary.wikispaces.com/file/view/HELP2.jpg/32648297

Yes cleaning up may not be as glamorous of a job as painting Dichio's head, but in the end it will show TFC FO that we will respect BMO Field and clean up after major TIFO's (which we hope to do many more of next season).

If you can offer a few hours tomorrow night @ BMO FIELD please do... Hot coco will be provided...

Please post on this thread if you can make it... and PM RooneyRPB as well

Date: Wednesday 21Oct2009
Time: 8:00pm
Location: BMO FIELD - Gate 4...

I'll be there in spirits as I'm still in MSP on weekdays.

For those of you who haven't worked on it, this may be the last time you are able to become part of this triumphant history making tifo.

Kudos to everyone who came out previously. Now let's finish it like we strted it.

I would normally be 'In Like Flynn' here cause I truly respect the fact that we must keep a neat and orderly operation when within someone elses house.
Unfortunately, I'll be doing a banner for the final match in NJ.

After a bit of a boondoggle start. we got our act together and heaved-ho the mother of all banners out to the parking lot through Gate 3 and spread it out for one last look. There, in the misty shadows of a street lamp, appears a looming figure with a gleaming dome. Simply the classiest sports figure ever (with his 2 older sons in tow and donuts)...(in retrospect, probably a good choice not to have taken the scissors to the banner inside...wouldn't have looked too good in front of the man.) At one point, he bent down as if to want to help move it and I waved him off (politely) as if to say, no, this banner was in honor of you and we'll take care of it.
Great to meet some familiar faces...probably one of the more "unusual" ways to have spent the evening. Glad we can look forward to reusing the banner in new, creative ways in the future...

I guess oversights happen, and in the end all that matters is that the work gets done.
And I think I can speak for everyone in saying that we all left with a great feeling
of accomplishment. This banner was about guts and glory. Everyone got to share in the the glory....
but those of you who are the guts know that we got way more out of it than everyone else.

I just don't understand why the thing wasn't folded up when there were 100ish supporters at the field on Sunday (which was a nice warm day, and DRY). Instead, the banner got soaked, held gallons of dirty standing water, and the paint came off all over the thing. It took us about an hour to drag and fold the thing, but could have been 20 minutes of work if there were more people involved (plus the banner wouldn't have gotten covered in wet slimy goo)

That was the plan, but the teams that had people involved in the project (RPB and U-Sector) got eliminated earlier than anticipated and most people weren't willing to stick around and went home or to drink.

On Saturday afternoon it sounded like a logical plan. I mean, hey, it was brought up by *cough* a member of the FO *cough*. Last time we listen to them. LOL

Lesson learned.

Moving forward win or lose, we do it after the game. It's will be easier to recruit people to help.

I just don't understand why the thing wasn't folded up when there were 100ish supporters at the field on Sunday (which was a nice warm day, and DRY).
Probably because the vast majority of those 100ish supporters were actually, you know, playing. It's not like we were all standing staring at the banner all day, plotting ways to not fold it up.

The plan was to take care of it after the tournament, but as teams were eliminated, people started leaving due to hunger and fatigue. Can't really blame them as there was no food served at the stadium for the tournament, unlike last year.

I still don't understand being mad (or "steamed") about it, though. Whatever.

I was steamed because the opportunity to deal with the banner on a dry day, when there were people there was wasted, and now the banner is in much worse shape than before. It was rolled up wet, which means it will have to get unrolled again in order to dry out. You know that old saying a stitch in time saves nine ? Well that first stitch didn't happen, so now it's more work than it needed to be.

it's not a huge thing (which is why i used the word steamed instead of 'mad) but it was a bad oversight.

when that 500lb banner was holding 100lbs of water/cups/slimey paint...getting out the blades didn't seem like a bad idea...

People discussed doing the banner on Sunday, and a few attempts to round up troops came up short.

We'll know better moving forward...
perhaps it could have been done before the tourney when everyone was fresh...

Hey, if we did do it on Sunday, I wouldn't have seen Danny and eaten his delicious Donuts.

Not worth arguing about or even discussing. We live and learn and now have to make the plans around it.

Danny just left FluSH... ugh! I did have a tasty donut though lol

That sounds like a weird Christmas story or something...."He was just here and you just missed him, but look - he left donuts!"

I don't mind seeing Parky steamed. Or blanched, sauteed, pan-fried, broiled, grilled, slow-roasted, stir-fried...

Best served with beer, to counter-balance the acidity.
