View Full Version : Would you go to Columbus for a playoff game?

I know, I know, a bit premature but even if we don't get in its still an interesting observation. The majority of supporters say they will not go to Columbus for next season's opener but how many would crack for the chance to see TFC's first playoff game?

All you gotta do is watch out for the warning signs and keep a wide berth! :D

I said no, but its more of a free time issue than a boycott thing. Although, I still don't like the idea of dropping money to go to a scene from Roger and Me.

This matchup is not a sure thing if we get in. Far from it.

TFC could easily wind up 7th with a win Saturday (there's even a remote chance of finishing fourth, ie ahead of Chicago). Also Columbus are not assured of first overall.

There's a real chance we'd get Chivas or Houston (we could even get Seattle) in the first round

we play teams in same conference. 5th team from western conference apparently will be seeded lowered in eastern conference

so most likely scenario is that TFC plays Chicago or Columbus

I see that now.

Since a crossover qualifier would be ranked below all other teams in the conference it crosses over into, this actually means that Chicago is probably just as likely as Columbus (maybe even more likely) to be the first round opponent

would be pretty funny if Dallas met Columbus in first round and deliver an upset

I suppose he's planning for the Conference final then....

On the theme of not counting chickens... it seems that in recent years MLS has scheduled 3 of the conference semi-finals (home/away dates) on the two Saturdays following the end of the regular season, and 1 on the two Thursdays.

That would impact travel opportunities for people.

Again, not that I am looking beyond NYRB game.

Yes I would, but if we make playoffs we will play Chicago Fire anyway.

WHO QUALIFIES: Eight teams qualify for the 2009 MLS Cup Playoffs. Playoff berths will be determined by points in the standings upon the completion of the regular season. All 15 teams will have played 30 games.

The top two teams in each conference qualify and are seeded 1 & 2 in their respective four-team playoff conference brackets.
The four MLS teams with the next most points, regardless of conference, receive "wildcard" berths.

The four wildcard teams will be seeded according to conference first.
If more than four teams qualify from one conference, the team finishing lower than fourth in its conference will shift over to the other conference bracket.
A team switching conference brackets will be seeded below all other teams in its new conference playoff bracket.

http://web.mlsnet.com/standings/index.jsp?standings=playoff

That means Columbus would play Colorado or Dallas, and TFC would play Chicago.
Unless you are asking if we would go to Columbus for Conference Finals you should change you question ;)

If Toronto makes the playoffs, then of course I would want to be there on the road to support them.
But I will have to wait and see if time and money allow for it.
I sure hope so!

Can't blame her as I was almost aressted three times in July when I went down

But for the boys I must go as I can't go this weekend to New York

I will go. But not in the visiting supporters section. I won't be kept in a tightly compressed far away place. I want to be in front, close to the pitch in an area that doesn't make it easy for overzealous security to group me in with other TFC fans.

I suggest that we all spread oouuuuuuttt.
