She's crazy man. I sat in 116 yesterday, she said that she will bill MLSE for the stuff she will need after her heart attacks. She's funny though.

I would go to New York, but both my parents don't like soccer and wouldn't let a 15 year old go alone. So sadly I can't.

In New York, does someone know where we can watch the FC Dallas v Sounders game. It starts at 10:30 Easter and the TFC game should be done by 9:30.

I hardly want to walk into a NYRB bar, but I heard there are some good footy bars in Manhattan, which is where we'll be staying anyway.

$144 there and back to take the loser limo (greyhound) folks. which means you can technically make the trip there to see them game and leave that same night if you dont mind parting with the $200 for a 2 hour game and an 11 hour bus ride.

i'll see if i have work next weekend.

I was just there for a concert Hotels are cheap if you stay in Seacacus or Harmon Meadows, which are both like a 5 min drive to the stadium or you can take the train right into their new station at the complex. So basicall just look in East Rutherford. If you wanna go into New York when your there this is the cheapest option as the train into New York is close (most hotels offer shuttles free) and cheap

It really is not that far, just down the interstate, I have stayed there in the past, if you plan on being in Manhattan during the day on Saturday, you can just jump on the Giants Stadium Express Bus from the Port Authority (42 and 8) for about $3.50 each way.

Take a taxi back to the Sheraton, which just across the parking lot from Newark International Airport but yes the Red Roof is a bit closer if that is what you want.

As I have said many times in this thread, I didn't take the message as a threat/something negative and I know/like this person but I did take it to mean that, just like in Chicago (where there was no drama), it was preferred by some people that the supporters groups had different hotels... so I was trying to see what hotel would be best for us!

Holy shit. This is unreal.

Is it really such a bad thing for us to have separate hotels? The message went like this;

RED ROOF
No red patch at red roof

Re: RED ROOF
Shush you, we can go wherever we like

I didn't get a response so I thought;
1. I know it's not a threat or anything really nasty but why not have our own hotel? I liked it in Chicago so what would it hurt?
2. If it was a joke, I would have thought they would have responded with 'just kidding' so I took the line that many a true word is said in jest and thought it would be best to direct our peeps elsewhere... really, does it deserve the drama?

You are being useful and setting up a group rate for RPB is definitely a good idea....sharing a PM you got with the rest of the board may not have been the best idea....but that is my opinion. It is called Personal Message for a reason......:)

How I'm supposed to take - NEE member says we aren't welcomed at Red Roof Inn?

That's a threat in Chinese, English and Spanish...

Ok guys, I gotta take off for a bit suffice to say the mods are watching this thread carefully. Discussions in here are about NY only. Any off-topic discussions will be deleted and if necessary infracted.

The issue about Red Roof Inn and whether it's a viable option should be determined individually. Since this is not being organized by the Away Team, if someone wants to share a group rate, that's fine. If not, everyone is on their own, which also means you can book wherever you like, nobody can say otherwise.

Tickets have to be booked individually as well, as the away team has already closed the group buy.

Discussions about personality conflicts, or Private Messages should be taken away from this thread, end of story.

RRI is a cheap option if you're looking for that, but don't expect a five-star hotel. A lot of people have chosen it for the past couple of years because it's only 3 miles from the stadium, and isn't too expensive. If you're in a room with more than two people, I highly recommend that you bring your own soap and shampoo because the hotel provides a ketchup packet of shampoo and a quarter's worth of soap.

There is free parking on-site, a gazebo in case someone brings a guitar and feels they want to sing songs, and there is a liquor store ACROSS THE STREET. It's also relatively near a subway stop if you wanted to head into NYC to party or tour.

And speaking of that, nobody answered Workie's call for post-game pub locations.

The hostel in Harlem wasn't half bad. Besides the mold stench, I mean you'll just be crashing for like 4 hours anyway.

Harlem isn't so bad anymore, even Bill Clinton has an office there. South Bronx is starting to get gentrified again as well. People probably thought he was a Fordham (Bronx) or Columbia (close to Harlem) student.

Manhattan is pretty safe all around, it's when you start venturing into the other boroughs it gets dicey. East New York is a no-go but you have hipster kids venturing into Bushwick and Bed Sty because of cheap rent. It doesn't always go so well.

Full details from penn Station, ap red bulls website.

PORT AUTHORITY IN MANHATTAN

Mass Trasportation Information
NJ TRANSIT has replaced No. 351 Bus service with a new rail/bus shuttle service between New York Penn Station and the Meadowlands Sports Complex via Secaucus Junction Rail Station. With the launch of this new service, Bus No. 351 will no longer operate to the Meadowlands from the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Here's how the new service works: Customers traveling to the Meadowlands for Red Bulls matches will board trains at New York Penn Station (PSNY) and make a quick, convenient transfer at Secaucus to waiting shuttle buses to Giants Stadium. Regular $10 roundtrip tickets will be sold at all New York Penn Station ticket windows and ticket vending machines. Dedicated ticket windows will be available for your convenience.
Advance tickets can be purchased at the Port Authority Bus Terminal, PSNY, Newark Penn Station and Secaucus Junction.
Getting there is easy:
Go to Penn Station New York - Penn Station is located 8 blocks south of the Port Authority Bus Terminal at 32nd St. and 7th Avenue. Subway service is available on the A, C, E and 1, 2, 3 subway lines. (From Port Authority Bus Terminal, travel one stop downtown.)
Buy Your Ticket - Special $10 roundtrip tickets are available at all ticket windows and ticket vending machines at Penn Station New York and the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Your ticket is used for the roundtrip train ride between PSNY and Secaucus and for the shuttle bus trip between Secaucus and the Meadowlands.
Board a Train - With your ticket, you may board any NJ TRANSIT train to Secaucus Junction. Check the PSNY departure monitors for trains with "SEC" code shown next to the train number. Trains labeled "SEC" will stop at Secaucus; do not board a train that does not indicate "SEC." Secaucus Junction will be the first stop (about 7-10 minutes after departing New York).
Transfer At Secaucus Junction - At Secaucus, exit the train, go upstairs and follow signs to the bus loading area. Use your train ticket to pass through the fare gates.
Take the Shuttle Bus to Giants Stadium - As you board the bus, present your ticket to the bus operator. The trip to Giants Stadium will take about 15 minutes.

After the event:

Buses to return to Secaucus Junction will depart Giants Stadium from the NJ TRANSIT loading area located at Lot 13/17, past the practice field, outside of Stadium Gate D. Shuttle buses will operate up to 30 minutes after the conclusion of the event.
At Secaucus, check departure screens for the next New York train.
Doesn't sound great for getting back, as it's only 30 minutes after the game that they run, so not much time for celebrating.

Harlem was a really rough place in the 60's , 70's and 80's, not so anymore tho the city put loads of money to rebuild and fix that area up in the 90's. Apparently its the fastest growing area in the city, price value has sky rocketed since the early 90's and now has many middle class people living in the area.

But hey every borough in New York City got its good areas and bad, even Queens got its ghetto area to, 50 cent is from Queens, its gotta be gangsta, hahaha

Think that the FO would open up BMO field for us to watch the game on the big screen? Similar to what the Blue Jays did for game 6 in the World Series against Atlanta (which was amazing). $5 to get in, and the proceeds donated to charity.

When will the games be played, and does anyone know if those on the Gold waiting list will be able to get tickets?

Nah....really depends. I used to hit New York all the time in the 90s and used to take the train in and back late at night alone. And I am not a huge guy......maybe because I am West Indian that no one bothered me. I think the days of the 80's were long gone by the mid 90's....

In my opinion...New York is just as safe as Toronto...for the most part.
