If KC wins or ties, we just have to win.
that sounds nice, lets hope k.c. holds on!

bignickel

actually, k.c. has to win cuz if we win next week seattle would still have us on the tie break

I think a KC win is good because Dallas plays Seattle next week...so that basically means if we win, we will pass one of those two no matter what...which I think means we are in the playoffs if we win next week, no matter what...but I am no expert

I think we'd need Colorado to either lose or draw as well. They have 40 points and we have 39. A win for them would give them 43 while we would have 42.

Yea .. this game is more importent to us then it seems ... we need Seattle to have something to play for next week against Dallas

Dallas 2-1 now. Gonna be close

Dallas plays Seattle next week - if Seattle loses tonight that's good news for us. If we win next week and these two tie we're in.

If Seattle loses tonight, do we just have to win next week? A Dallas win next week @ Seattle means we pass Seattle. A Dallas loss means we pass Dallas. We have the tiebreakers over DC and NE so it doesn't matter what they do next week.

Is it this simple?

Marc"2L"

If KC win, we are in. If we win of course. But that's a given.

You are correct.

What about Colorado? They have more points than us. If they win next week, wouldn't THEY take Seattle's place? I'm confused...

a longshot way into the playoffs would be a TFC tie against the shite bulls and Dallas lose at Seattle, New England loses or ties at Columbus, and DC loses or ties at KC. i think. and those things are possible, since road games are hell for teams.

but let's just get the win!!

Chevy
10-17-2009, 09:32 PM
A. We have to win.

B. Dallas has to lose or tie

OR

C. Colorado has to lose or tie

There is also a way for us to get in if we tie, but that would involve both Dallas and Colorado losing and New England and DC both drawing or losing.

wtih seattle and dallas winning tonight, tfc must win next week and then await the results of seattle dallas in dalls. A tie or loss for dallas puts us in. If Dallas wins, we must hope that Colorada ties or loses in Salt Lake. Both Salt Lake and Seattle have little to play for but pride. Our games starts before those games, so if we win it will be nail biting time again. Dallas is a better bet to win in Seattle as they are on an amazing run. Colorado has been playing poorly and......well...who the heck knows.

Sounds like we still have a decent outside chance, although if we miss the playoffs, I'll be wondering all winter long why we couldn't have held on in just one of those 15 games in which we conceded a late goal... Sounds like it could be a one point difference between us and a lot of teams.

Dallas and Colorado are definitely in tough situations next week. Seattle is going to be rockin... and they might still have a chance at winning the west. RSL plays very well at home, and would still have a chance, so they too will be playing hard.

TFC on the road isn't exactly a wonderful proposition... but at least TFC knows field turf ;)

why would RSL be out if TFC wins? TFC would move to 7th position, and then Colorado would be in 8th. an RSL win would tie them with Colorado for 8th, the 1st tiebreaker would be equal, and then Goal diff over the whole season would be the second tiebreaker. IN that case RSL would need a 2 goal or better win to have a better overall goal diff than Colorado... and they'd get the 8th spot. With Colorado finishing 9th (of course this is independent of any other results .. both RSL and Colorado could be out if TFC and Dallas win). Am I wrong?

How exactly do we automatically beat New England in a tie? We would have the exact same record and, today, they are only one behind us in goal difference, but their next result (assuming it is a win) would change the goal difference. Wouldn't it?

Yes I know. I've been watching. But playing on turf, in front of maybe 7,000 fans, plus a few TFC supporters, I think the boys will do alright and get the three points.
