That is not good new about Robo, a key player for TFC, but hey when one person goes down, its time for some one else to step up, that is the reality of sports, so all that has to be done now is for the Reds to knockoff the Quakes and keep their playoff quest alive.

Am I the only one happy the Robbo is out for the season? He's been slow this year and rarely completes a pass.

I can't say I'm disappointed with Robo not playing the rest of the season. Time for Vitti or Sanyang to step-it-up! Can you imagine being the guy, who's responsible? How bad do you feel coming in on a trial and breaking someones face?!

I'm torn about robbo... He's been a rock for us over the last two years but has played distractedly this year.

On the other hand, I'm getting glad that Guevera might be released in the off season. He's been mailing it in since the coup in Honduras, especially compared to the level of his National Team play. I understand that playing for a chance at the WC is the goal of a lifetime, but it still wrankles.

Toronto's time is now

While the primary focus of most American eyes will be on the national team this weekend, north of the border, the attention of Toronto FC fans will be on BMO Field where, they hope, the start of a late-season push into the playoffs will begin.

With just nine points separating fourth spot from 13th in MLS, there are many clubs that retain hope of a postseason berth, especially as most will take points off each other in the coming weeks. Thus, handicapping the closing weeks is a tricky proposition but Toronto must be considered to have a great chance, given its run-in, which is among the most straightforward in the league.

Chris Cummins' side is home to San Jose (two road wins) this weekend and to Salt Lake (one road win) seven days later before it finishes the season at New York (four total wins). Compare its remaining schedule to that of some of its rivals. For example, New England, which has Columbus home and away, with Chicago, at home, in-between.

Three wins would take TFC to 42 points, which could be enough. Having rested for two weeks following a grueling month, in which they played five out of six games on the road, Toronto has a golden opportunity to finally clinch the playoff spot so craved by its fans.

Three wins would take TFC to 44, which WILL be enough. Two wins and a draw would reach 42.

So to get this perfectly clear:

If we win all three of the remaining games, we are 100% IN the playoffs? There is NO situation in which another team could oust us no matter the results?

It's not NO situation, but the chances are pretty slim that anyone else could move ahead. The sportsclubstats site has been pretty close to right with this all along, and they were showing an 87%+ chance of playoffs at 44 points for TFC. I haven't looked at it after last weekend's results but can't see that percentage changing a lot.

EDIT: After last weekend, TFC shows a 99.7% chance at 44 points and an 87% chance at 42.

^ Agreed with Coach. With 3 wins, one of which would be against a playoff rival in Real Salt Lake...the amount of points SHOULD be enough to see us through to the playoffs. Nothing is 100% though.

That sports stats site had us at 99.4% chance of making the playoffs last time I looked if we win all three games...

So as the boys say, evening winning all three isn't a 100% playoff spot...
