Dwayne has always given back to the football community, especially underprivileged kids - let's get him this award! We all know the power of RPB when we get going :)

In 2007 Dwayne De Rosario, along with his wife, made a trip to Malawi Africa. What began as an observation expedition, resulted in first-hand exposure to the devastating effects of malaria. The De Rosarios got involved with Nothing But Nets right away. Nothing But Nets is a grassroots initiative dedicated to distributing life-saving bed nets throughout Africa to limit the spread of malaria carried by mosquitoes. Since 2007 De Rosario has hosted a variety of soccer clinics, demonstrations and fundraising parties to raise money to benefit Nothing But Nets and remains an ambassador for the cause.

About Dwayne De Rosario
Dwayne De Rosario was born on May 15, 1978, in Ontario, Canada. De Rosario became a professional soccer player at age 18 when he signed with the A-league Toronto Lynx. He joined the San Jose Earthquakes and was quickly a MLS Cup MVP, the owner of a Golden Boot award. After the 2005 season, the Earthquakes moved to Texas and De Rosario stayed with the Houston Dynamo for two seasons where he became the first player to receive the MLS Cup MVP award for the second time. In 2008, De Rosario was traded to his hometown team Toronto FC. In the past 7 and a half seasons, he has scored 48 goals and 42 assists and is one of the league’s most winning players.

All Stars Helping Kids and the Jefferson Awards for Public Service are pleased to announce a new partnership to honor and recognize athletes who display excellence in service and philanthropy.

We believe that athletes are uniquely positioned to shape the attitudes and values of all Americans- especially young Americans. They can be valuable role models and pace setters to inspire others. To honor their philanthropic work, we have created a national recognition program that will highlight them throughout the year. You can visit our website throughout the summer to view profiles of the nominees.

In addition to recognizing the service of the athletes, we will work together to create a national "Call to Action for Volunteering and Service."

The Jefferson Awards for Public Service (http://www.jeffersonawards.org/) is a prestigious national recognition system honoring community and public service in America. The Jefferson Awards were established in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, U.S. Senator Robert Taft, Jr. and Sam Beard to establish a Nobel Prize for public service. Today, their primary purpose is to serve as a "Call to Action for Volunteers" in local communities.
