im sure itll be somewhat different once they have a stable home as opposed to moving from one place to another

Well they could always add extra seats in 1 end so not like they can't grow if they ever need to.
Looks really nice actually.

Kind of looks like a smaller-scale version of Croke Park. Not bad.

I like it. It's simply and symmetrical. More to the point, it looks easily expandable, which is good.

*sigh* A roof...

Looks good. And a roof, too. Nice touch.

15,000 to start is not unreasonable for the Earthwobbles -- right now they play out of a 10,000 seater which is rickety as hell. Growing slowly will work -- plus, they can still play out of the Oakland Coliseum for "large" games against the likes of the Galaxatives.

The roof will provide good advertising for the club. The stadium is right next to the airport and everyone will see it on takeoffs and landings

15,000 is the low-end of capacity for a SSS. Pretty well any MLS side can be profitable if they fill a stadium with 15k fans.

The key is you want to have atmosphere. If they only get 10K attendance in a 15K stadium, it's a whole lot better than 10K in a 20K stadium. If they start at 10K and grow to 15K, you end up getting a stable profitable franchise with a sold-out stadium. If you have 10K in a 20k stadium, it will never grow to even 15K because the atmosphere won't be there.

The high end? 27K for the Galaxy, 35k for Seattle. But those are big markets.

But have they got a place to put it? Last year, the issue was that none of the local governments was willing to kick in for it, although Santa Clara's mayor wants to keep the team there (that's where they play out of now).

I think it looks great. How long before we get an upgrade. I mean I know it was just built 3 years ago, but they built it thinking we weren't going to fill it up and made a very simple stadium. I'm not bad mouthing BMO, it our place and I love it (especially when we get grass) but if you look at San Jose and the Shit bulls there stadiums are really nice. I wonder how long will it be before we get a real stadium like in europe (just a smaller venue, like 25,000 - 30,000 instead of 100,000) What are you guys thinking 5 - 10 -15 - 20 YEARS?

let's see if they ever build it... stadium porn is nice, but development comes too slow.

The San Jose stadium is still contingent on more funding and an improvement in the capital markets. Apparently these fancy pics are just designed to garner more support and the project is nowhere near starting. Lew Wolff is notorious for proposing projects and never getting anywhere with them (see the Oakland Athletics, who have been working through so many proposals for years).

i saw that the KC team is now actually almost cancelling that stadium project they had and moving the project perhaps to another location (near that baseball park they play in now).... but that means probably another year or more of delay.

15K will probably create demand with plans for expansion already factored into the design. Realistic rather than ambitious, allowing for possibility of success.

Smart.

I thought the exact same thing.

Really?! Got a link for that? Shitty news if true, because they really need to get outta that baseball park.

see the other thread about KC stadium in this section of the forum.

Basically KC was gonna build a stadium at Bannister Mall, this shitty old rundown, closed mall south of KC. They even started demolition and it was gonna be ready for 2011, with a bunch of soccer fields around it and stores and shit. But that's pretty much toast now. They couldn't get the funding they needed (bonds I think) and the massive project is basically dead.

Now they've got another site, in the same complex as the baseball stadium they play in now, west of KC (about same distance I guess). They are still negotiating with the gov on funding. But apparently the guys who own the Wiz run a massive company in KC, and they've promised to create a big office complex near the stadium.

The new project looks just as good as the other one, but it's a suburban stadium and these delays will probably add a year or 2 to the opening.

that stadium is pretty nice, i like the roof. I just dont like grass seatting tho, looks like baseball or something. Id rather they just leave the grass empty or put a new stand there.

Also id like to see more stadiums built in the actual city rather then in the suburbs. Seems like it can be harder to sell tickets in the suburbs. Seattle and Toronto who are both located right downtown sell the most tickets in the league.

so last few teams who still have pointy ball gridlines all over the place next season will be New England and Houston ( Houston sometime do in the playoffs). I cant wait till those teams get new stadiums, i cant even watch those games when they play on Pointy ball fields.

That sounds like its for the best anyway. The ballpark the Wizards play at now is smack dab between the Legends Centre, a HUGE outdoor shopping and recreational plaza; and the KC International Speedway. If they can build a new park in the location they are in now, I think it would probably work out best.

I like the lower bowl they can put their fans in it and tarp off the upper section.
