Session #2

http://www.listeningtocities.net/ltcarchive/ltcimages/TracingSummer.jpg

Date: Saturday September 26th
Location Meeting: BMO Field Gate 4
Time: 10:00AM
What to bring: Comfortable clothes, knee pads, Lawn Chairs
Duration: 5-6hrs
Contacts: Al-MO and Rudi

FYI: People are welcome to show up during the course of the day... if you are not an early bird!!

Alright, so there has been a small debate as to what we hope to accomplish on the next session... However the final concensus is the following:

Minimum Goal: Finish the grid and tracing of the banner (The last 2/3rds)

Ultimate Goal: Finish the entire banner including the painting (Weather and number of volunteers permitted)

Seeign that we tackled one of the hardest parts of the banner during the last session, we could very well finish the last 2/3rds of the grid in a record time.... however the painting will definately take a toll and we may have to evalute whether to commence painting on this day or not (as to not disrupt the banner from constant folding and unfolding).

I have to say Session #1 was AMAZING... I mean we got 34 volunteers out of nowhere as I counted about 10 people who posted they were coming last time... so a BIG THANKS to those that came...

For this one, I will definately like to take a running tally of volunteers... although a nice surprise of more is always welcomed...

For those coming from out of town (Niagara, London, etc) I might be hesitant on calling you guys.... inparticular if you can only come on one day (as we may not paint on Septmeber 26th) Nevertheless my hat's off to you for driving all that distance and putting in some labour for this banner... That is some REAL support.

Please I encourage you to post if you are coming, if you are a maybe, and even if you aren't coming but would like to... :D

P.S. Also feel free to bring the children/kids as well... I'm telling you... not too many kids will be able to say they've helped out with something like this... this one is a notch to have under your belt like no other...

I saw in another thread that you were talking about sweeping to get rid on the chunks below and give ourselves a smoother surface to work on. Forget brooms - you will be there all day working on an area that big. Get yourselves a leaf blower (preferably gas) - you can blow it off that way much faster (we used to do it all the time for racing 1/18 scale rc cars - it works like a charm).

I have an electric one and a generator if all else fails but it will take a little longer as we would have to move the generator a couple of time and the blower itself is not as powerful as a gas model.

I am still working on permission for saturday but I will post here once I know for sure.

Let me know about the leaf blower - if you want me to bring mine, I can (with the generator). I could also be there for 9:30 to start cleaning if we want to keep a 10 am firm start time.

Let me know.

I am getting pretty stoked for this. The last banner I worked on was the 'we will always support you' at Flush's house.

I couldn't get out all season as the banner team works at tough time for me (between the family and work) - I am just glad I am now able to contribute just a little.

I am cleared to leave my house at 9 so I will be around gate 4 for 9:30. I will start clearing the area with the blower as soon as someone who knows what is going on shows up and tells me where we will be working.

(useless information, I know - pretty much just a bump!)

Yes, Thank you to everyone (my sincere apologies I couldn't help today as Ihad the kids with me... but at least I came JIT with the food reserves...)

I'll make sure I don't have FluSH Jr. and my Bella (read: my son and my daughter) next time!

Anyhow much appreciated to everyone that came down...

Sorry I had to bounce early. It sounds as though you finished what was needed before the rain - very cool.

I hope I can make part 3!

I have to say it - that mofo is huge!

Some Portuguese trinket stores might have one.

My sister and parents are in Portugal right now, I should ask her to get me one. Just don't think they'll be anywhere near where they could get one.

I'll look around my area for the "Weather Chicken" and let you guys know. I think the a store on Ossington/Dundas might be able to get them in.

word.

sorry I also had to bail early guys, but you know.... jobs and stuff.

Are we going to use the same lot for the next session?
I'm sure you guys put all the 'paper weights' back in an orderly fashion,
so I can't see them having any problem with us using that lot.

and yes I think the intent is to use that lot. It's a lot quieter and pretty well sheltered from the wind. Just those darn people stuck in traffic on the gardner! :)

The Toronto Fall Home Show is this weekend, so the lot by BMO will fill up.

So yeah, we should use the same lot as there are a lot of weights in that lot.

should we start earlier to "squat" and claim that spot?

I don't think it would be needed. That lot only fills up for games at BMO - it's too far away from the Automotive building, and the Direct Energy center.

And now, we can actually meet there instead of at BMO and save some time.

When the session 3 thread is up and the location is confirmed, I will show up early to finish the blowing - the sheer area to clear is daunting. Painting that thing would be a nightmare with stones and crap underneath it. If you meet at 10 again, I will have to be there for 7!

6 if Parky is 'helping' me (ie: screwing with my hungover head)

MLSE is pretty good at making promises (look at the Raptors!), they will be able to talk you down. Just hold out on merch and such for your fellow RPB's.

I do have a ladder that folds up small enough to put into a van but I do know if it is long enough to get up to the start of steps. I think it is only about 16 feet. I have one that is long enough but no way to carry it.

If I am allowed out to session 3, I will bring it.
