Preparing for the Celtic game.

Interesting note that three MLS refs will no longer be calling games this season:

At least they are doing something positive about the reffing......

WOW. The US Soccer federation is actually enforcing it's own rules and regulations. What's next? Proper training and development for professional level referees? Better pay? Allignment with FIFA reffing standards? My head is spinning........

A positive step forward...

Poor fitness and constant poor performances will cost you assignments...

Hmm..I often thoughtt that Kennedy was one of the better ones.
Good to see that Toledo is under scrutiny - useless biased tosser (alledgedly!)

"Ricardo Salazar, Baldomero Toledo and Terry Vaughn are the others -- will be evaluated"

I think they are just being evaluated because they are the only full time MLS referees. Not too many clubs seem to like Toledo, so I'm very interested in seeing how he fares.

well US Soccer is going through a massive restructuring of their officials program. We've been working with the ref group for our national certification (for the National Premier Soccer League) and they just told us what is going on last night.

So they've changed around the elite youth system in the past 2 years (boys 2 years ago, girls starting this year) and now they're working on the Ref system. Hopefully it will work out.

it is a positive step towards improving ref quality

though IMO all the USSF refs needs should get a performance review and be tossed for being so crappy :p

I am noticing a lot of new refs for MLS games, and some of them haven't been too bad

Shame about Kennedy - I thought he was one of the better refs. He's the one that's about 4' 6" tall.

Baldomero Toledo - Oh man, The tribe has spoken for this douche!

I hope he gets the boot, big time.

He can then go do some Brille Cream Commercials!

Yeah Kennedy was alright.. but it seems he didn't pass some fitness tests... Maruffo was the only one suspended for actual performance in calling the games.

Maybe Kennedy didn't pass the sprints test cuz his legs are too short? hahah. he's a short dude.

"Earlier this year, Marrufo was suspended two matches by the USSF for accepting Chicago star Cuauhtemoc Blanco's jersey after a game. In June, he was cited for stopping a game in Houston to administer a water break, and in March he was criticized for allowing play to continue after two D.C. United players suffered head injuries in a collision."

That is an interesting read, it would be a interesting situation if they were to do that... I wonder if MLS would take them on as a lower level franchise league, in partnership or in direct control.

Either way it could spell disaster for USL

What are the USL Club's biggest beef with the possible sale to MLS? Is it that it would set in stone their status as a tier 2 league? Do they honestly believe they can supplant MLS? Or is it something else?
