His career is not going in the right direction. I would be surprised to see him on TFC next year.

It is a shame because I remember watching him score a real nice goal for us a year back, far post, on an away game and I thought he showed a great deal of potential.

at age 18 he has many years ahead of him... consistency will come as he matures.

pretty much every single guy chosen ahead of him for the U-20 world cup is older than him.

The only guys selected in his age year (1991) were 2 defenders.

Or he peaked at the U-17 level. Either is possible. He doesn't seem to be improving (or growing), although we've seen very little of him this year

Good, I hope his feelings are hurt so much that he ends up ditching US team and plays for Canada in the future. :D

I haven't seen enough to know if he's improving or whether TFC has just gotten better so they don't need him as much as they did last year. He's also missed a couple periods while being away at camps.

When you're Thomas Rongren and you have guys 2 years older than Ibby at forward and midfield, you probably go with them.

I've seen this in hockey often in junior tourneys (unless you're the hottest thing)... they'll load up with guys who are just on the edge of 20 years.

Now, for the next U-20 in 2011, that will be a test, as Ibby will be one of those guys almost 20.

He needs to bulk up which he started doing...and develop some lower body strength...I am not sure what to think of him either...but he is young enough to recover from whatever the issue is

yes he is fine we used him way too soon but at the time there was no choice
we have more depth now and he wont see much playing time even next year

Hard to get better if you're not playing in a reserve league when you're sitting on the bench.

yeah, gotta get that reserve league back. I read an article with Sigi Schmid saying some teams are asking MLS to bring it back for next year.

If this makes him hungrier to take a spot from one of the seniors on the team, then there is a silver lining in all this. He's still a young kid and has a bright future ahead of him. If he's only 18 he can't even buy a beer yet (just to put things in perspective).

its badly needed for player development..unless MLS is going to turn to being a buying league. the onlay thing about the reserve league is they will have to add to the roster so giys playing in the first team match are not forced to play in the reserve league due to lack of players.

just increase the roster size for reserve games

i.e

an acadamy player can play in the reserves but not in the real MLS league

Why, so he can be on a team that perennially sucks year in and year out?

No surprise.
He's too weak and easily knocked off the ball.
And he's just not better than most of the boys that made the team.
