The really depressing part is that Madrid is playing like shit, and that's as much the issue as DC playing well.

Should be 3-0. Josh Wicks is playing his ass off.

Will definitely be interesting next weekend..DC are putting up a good fight against Real Madrid so far.

dc are very organised and have a strong defense.definately holding their own today.

Two things are helping DC. Madrid are playing on one days rest and the pitch at FedEx Field is narrower than regulation causing a lot more congestion

Madrid scores. Higuain! Gorgeous one, too.

2-0

DC trying to put on a bit of pressure, but the Real defense is just too strong. Also, it opens up for counter-attacks. Both Higuain goals came from counter-attacks.

I think DC is playing at a higher level than us against Real Madrid. They are way more inventive than us, and the passing game is much better as well. We need to step up our game next Saturday to beat them.

Robben is good. I knew he was good but you really saw it at the practice as well.

Add the fact that it is currently 42c with the humidity and although they play in a hot country they would not be used to this type of conditions. I am sure that is why they do not appear to be playing with much intensity(until the goals began).

DC looked a lot better than TFC.

DC couldn't even score against RM? sheesh! ;)

p.s. I wouldn't make any projections of "form" based on friendlies. We played awesome against Aston Villa once too and it meant shit to the regular season.

What's better 5-1 or 3-0?

At least we scored a goal (?).

Better tactically. They clogged the middle of the pitch and it took until the latter stage of the game for DC to lose enough of their legs to be unable to maintain the offside trap.

But technically, they still did fuck all and had, what, one real chance?

yeah but DC looked much better playing, so I'd say the 3-nil was better than 5-1. They actually looked somewhat impressive during the match.

Do you ever, ever say anything negative about TFC? All of your posts makes things sound so rosy ;)

This board needs the balance, though. Plenty of people never, ever say anything positive.

Either way, next week's game is huge.

Playoffs in the balance.

I guess we can't really take much away from the friendlies against Real Madrid. Next week has a whole lot on the line for both teams, and I guess the winner is the team that wants it the most.

thier first half was incredible. and the second well we all know the answer .
However i do think the heat played a factor ..
MLS soccer needs more but were not that far off from competing with europe..
I think the whole key could be in coaching, controlling our speed(or knowing when to turn it on),strikers taking oportune shots , more control of the ball ,finess passes and maybe another 4 milion to the salary cap ....

Next weekends game is gonna be huge.. There can be no excuses for this game Go TFC

I have always said that DC plays better football than TFC and probably the best style in MLS. DC played well in the first half. We(TFC) lack good movement off the ball and we truly lack speed other than Marvel. Technically we are not good and it has really showed against PR and of course RM. We have problems all the way from top to bottom. I really don't think we are good enough or have a coach who can get the most out of the players with some strategies. Wow this is the most negative post I have written, the the last 2 weeks have been awful from TFC.

Positive people in the home of Negativity? Na...not going to happen.
Real Madrid didn't play well.
The pitch was too narrow.
DC was good.
DC was terrible.
DC did not score.
We lost 5-1.
They almost won, only let in 3 goals.
Feck, I had a nice day at the beach with the wife, came home, it was 33 outside and 23 inside.
Nice.
