View Full Version : Huntelaar- why did Mo not try to sign him?

trane

I mean he was available, he would have been a pergect DP. Young, a great strike rate in leagues of similar quality like the MLS, La Ligua, and Mo was clearly talking to real, why not at least try to sign him.

You're kidding right? He'd be a great signing, but miles away from coming to the MLS!

Plus, didn't Milan pay a fee for him?

trane

WHat 15 Million Euros is too rich for MLSE, cheap bastards. That is why this team will never go anywhere.

Does the MLS have a rule regarding fees and DP players?

If there are any MO should now how to get around them, otherwise why do we pay him?

Canadian Blue
08-09-2009, 12:00 AM
seriously???? First of all there is no way he would come to the MLS, and secondly how do you know Mo didn't try?

People need to realize that every available player is not an option for TFC or any MLS team for that matter

I think there might be an element of tongue and cheek to the original post.

He should have been part of the RM friendly agreement. We would have given RM English Rachel as their team masseuse and we get Huntelaar as our DP.

^ English Rachel should be thrown in any deal. JJ would oppose it, however.

Mo did try to sign Hunterlaar from Madrid. But last at the last minute it fell apart. The deal was almost done for $15M Euros, but at the final second, Madrid asked Toronto to include Velez in the deal, which Toronto balked at. Madrid was upset at this development and decided to take the offer off the table and sell him to Milan instead.

the only player Mo really let slip was the Canadian that game from Europe to sign with Houston , Arsenault..something like that..TFC should have gotten him

If this is a joke (which it more than likely is) than we don't need sarcastic threads like this. If it is serious ... again we don't need threads like this.

Guys, the thread is a fucking joke. Good lord, haha.

If you couldn't tell from the OP, then surely you could at least tell from trane's subsequent responses.

That said, someone mentioned Arjen Robben - I actually think he'd be prime MLS material in a few years. He'll be old, I assume still injury prone, and decent offensively. Prototypical MLS DP signing right there.

If it means a big contract, I'm sure aging Euro stars with a history of knee problems would have no problem playing in MLS. Especially if it's a team that plays on grass, meaning they only need to play the odd 90 minutes on turf all year.

Ljungberg disagrees with your opinion

He's kind of a special case. He hurt his knee a long time ago. More recently he's broken his ribs and had ankle, groin, calf muscle and hip problems. The guy is a walking field hospital - search "Ljungberg injury", it's ridiculous - not sure it matters what surface he plays on.

You do have a point. Who knows what Robben or anyone else thinks?

But I think if your knees are the one problem you've got, you're probably more sensitive to pitch quality

Mo didn't try to sign him as he put all his energies into trying to get Kaka from AC Milan. Kaka was about to sign for us until he heard that this year's beer festival had been moved from Fort York, he was livid and promptly signed for Real.
Our backup plan was Ronaldo, who also was about to sign for us, but his uncle Luis works as a garbage collector in Toronto and at the time of contract negotiations between us and Ronnies agent, the garbage strike was in full force. Ronnie said he couldn't play for a city that treated his uncle Luis so poorly. His uncle Luis has only taken 1 sick day in 18 years and was hoping to use his banked sick days to go to New Orleans next year for Mardi Gras. He also promptly signed for Real.
Benzema's agent briefly spoke with TFC also, but all talks quickly came to a halt when it was revealed that Benzema has a grizzly bear phobia. After getting over his disappointment of not signing for his beloved Reds, he promptly signed for Real.

If we are looking for a big name, we should go after Venegoor of Hesselink from Celtic, no bigger name than him, all 19 nineteen letters

Mo is trying though, which is nice........................

BIG NAMES is the way to go no doubt. The bigger the better. After all that is what Real is doing. We should consider Sri Lankan players, they have some real BIG NAME players.

Good call re Sri Lankan players, they have a couple of forwards we should pursue: Chathura Maduranga Siyaguna (http://www.redpatchboys.ca/w/index.php?title=Chathura_Maduranga_Siyaguna&action=edit&redlink=1) and Chathura Lakruwan Samarasekera (http://www.redpatchboys.ca/w/index.php?title=Chathura_Lakruwan_Samarasekera&action=edit&redlink=1).
Think of the income we could generate with shirt sales.
