why would you ruin the fun of another "we need grass" thread? Plus I got to bring up the ridiculous profit!

LOL well I don't think it had turned into another "we need grass" thread yet.

We all know it was heading that way, but I just wanted to give the OP some credit. :D

Grass: 20 goals 10 games, 2 goals per game
Turf: 15 goals 14 games, just above 1 goal per game

I'm just saying

Did anyone watch the Real Madrid game today? They just laid some fresh turf down but it didnt have time to take root and ended up being a disaster pitch to play on. Are they putting the grass in BMO over the plastic crap we have or ripping it out alltogether?

it will be installed on august 2nd and taken out on august 10

it was same for Chelski vs Seattle game. resulted in a lot of slipping on grass that hasn't taken root

Grass over turf is never a good idea. But stadiums all over the world keep trying and trying.

Ridiculous.

it's funny what people do for perception

grass apparently is automatically good surface to play on

imagine the howling if the temp grass causes an injury to key TFC player

btw I do realize a new "grass" thread is unnecessary and I did ask about the temp grass being installed for next week. :)

That happened 2 years ago (I think, maybe 3?) in Boston....it was a US men's national B-team vs. a European or Mexican club team and one of the Americans was injured when the entire section of sod came loose and slipped out from under his feet.

Temporary Grass never takes root. Isnt the shelf life on this stuff max 2 weeks before it dies?

The key is the depth of soil. Laying a thin layer of sod on top of whatever is never going to work.

It worked at Skydome because each section of turf was 10 cm thick and was in huge sections.

That is the key!!! It weights a ton (not literally) and is a bitch to put in and take out BUT it works!
