If MLSE remove the beer garden and put in a permanent stand, how big can it hold? Give us your best guesstimate.

Couldn't hold very much since it would have to be shorter then the score board, I guesstimate under 1000.

How many does the south hold anyways?

Hmmmm... I put down around 3000, but looking more closely at the picture of BMO Field now, I'd say 2000 would be the maximum.

I sit in 115, it goes from row 4 to row 20 with 30 seats per row, take away the entrance in the middle and 500 is a good estimate. Say 113, 114, 115, 116 and 117 are identical, that sits us at 2500. Take 112 and 118 and put them together to make 1 section then 3000 isn't a bad estimate actually.

^ That's cool. That's a lot of seats and a lot of paying customers.

Not wanting to sound full of myself, but since I first saw a finished BMO Field, I knew the beer garden wasn't going to last. There is just too much potential revenue in expanded seating to pass up. 3000 more seats sold at $25.00 a game adds up to a whole lotta coin.

Because of the two indoor bar thing in the north though I reckon the north could hold maybe half of the capacity of the south. 1500 maximum. Maybe up to 2000 if they put stands on top of the "bars" too. But they may not appreciate us stomping when we're above them.

^^ To do it right those 2 indoor bar things as you put it have to go.
Build a proper stand and rebuild those at the top of that new north stand.
Then you can make the section ~3,000.

Another option would be to incorporate the two suites into the new stand by having the stands on top of them.. Of course you would have to strengthen the roofs of those buildings at that point.

Best thing to do is demonish the group suites (or whatever it is those things are) and run the grandstand completely around. They could add more suites elsewhere, or put them at field level in the gap behind the end of the field (i.e. behind the net) with the stands on top. Currently there is little use of that gap anyway.

The City and MLSE can fit more people in stands in the North end than the suites occupy. Plus, with the ticket price increase (justified to cover construction expense) North stands would generate more revenue than the two suites do in any event.

What gap are you speaking of?

What price increase? Those are behind the net seats. Don't know how much you can get for them more than the S. End., especially if you want to move the SG's there. New suites on the other end are a different matter.

I'm going to say it can hold medium to large.

sorry, but we're not engineers here.

guessing at the capacity really has no relevance at all.
besides, if everyone guesses 2000 but we only get 1,500 then people will be pissed.

We're guessing now for the fun of it mostly.
When and if MLSE comes back with solid numbers then you can be pissed if its not big enough to house everyone.

yeah... might as well make a poll about the weather.

I'll play along...

the temp stand they put in last game was 1000 capacity.
It wouldn't be crazy to assume then that a larger permanent stand would likely be about 2000.

and that would be a perfect number!

Mo mentioned it in that Goltv interview. think he mentioned a 10,000 seat extension. was anyone paying more attention than I was?

they gotta ensure they have lots more pisspots underneath it tho. more than they budgeted for the other stands.

If they make the entrance to the seats similar to all the others in the stadium (i.e. entrance with a few rows below instead of waliking straight up to the seats) aw well as working with the existing cash bars (the buildings on either side) you can get 2000-2500 max.

Yeah, because all other polls we see put up on the boards are all well thought-out and incredibly relevant, right? But yeah, this one is the problematic one. Fuck, we need another poll to take our minds off this one. How about a poll asking people if they like the 3-stripe sleeve design on adidas shirts? Or maybe one on the comfort level of BMO Field's seat backs? Because something like that would be more in-tune with the sort of polls we're used to on these boards. Not some dumb speculation about more potential stadium seating.

What does Crew stadium hold in their visiting support section? My guess is we could fit a little under that in the north.

getting rid of the beer garden would be a great move...if it means more seating.

Previously, it's been stated that the proximity to the food building is a problem. I assume it's still an issue.

what's the issue? the temp stand was approved OK.

If the question is space, there shouldn't be a problem... the temp stand doesn't allow people to walk underneath, but if they built a proper stand, it would have lots of room underneath for any space/fire regulations.

they could even build it closer to the edge and steeper and higher... lots of room under the scoreboard.

I'm not sure - however as you can see you could never have the food building / EX open and have the current temp stand set up as it is.

Damn you Parky, why can it not rain men?! :D

Anyway...1000-1200 looks reasonable. I just can't see 2000 going in there.

the 2 boxes must be torn down and a 1500 seat official suppoters group only stand put in place

Why not? The stand is completely within the boundaries of BMO Field, is it not?

Believe Paul B. explained a while back that they can't really do any permanent expansion on the north end until something is done about the Food Building behind it.

These stands are just there to max out on Real's visit, help defray the grass costs.

If new stands go in, the city and club need to work on expanding the footprint of the stadium to allow more room for crowds to buy food/drink/merch or go to the can.

It's more to do with exits than buying merch/food/beer.
