Puerto Rico coach plays underdog card against TFC
By STEVEN SANDOR
Even though they got to the semifinals of the 2008-09 CONCACAF Champions League, the Puerto Rico Islanders don't think their experience gives them an edge going into the 2009-10 edition of the tournament.
In fact, coach Colin Clarke used the word "underdog" so much, it was as if his chat with the media during his team's workout at BMO Field was brought to you by the letter U, Sesame Street style.

Middle of the road
Ryan Johnston
In the wake of Toronto FC throwing away one (if not three) points in Columbus, I was concerned coach Chris Cummins was going to wax poetic about the positives of scoring two on the road or just being a victim of circumstance in the end. Afterall, Cummins still operates under the interim label and it is probably not in his best interest to ruffle too many feathers until the tag is removed.

we are on the eve of our first stage of CONCACAF play and THAT ios the coverage?
pathetic.

but by all means give us pages and pages about friendlies whose results do not have an impact on our season except for the balance sheets.

Tomorrow is a HUGE day in the history of this franchise!!!

I look forward to seeing your shinging faces at BMO

eat it

From Sandor's article;

"I'd take 0-0 right now if I could," he said. "They'll be playing in front of big support and right now they are playing as well as they have ever been. They were very unlucky not to win at Columbus over the weekend."

You can guarantee that teams will really press us in the final 20 min knowing how weak we are.

10. Toronto FC (7-7-5)

http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/images/2008/04/07/2008_026.jpg (http://www.soccerbyives.net/.shared/image.html?/photos/uncategorized/2008/04/07/2008_026.jpg)
Last week- Lost to Columbus Crew, 3-2, last Saturday.
This week- at New England Revolution on Saturday.
Last Five - 2-2-1
Outlook - Dropping a late point in Columbus is a heart-breaker, but TFC is poised for the playoff run, with Ali Gerba on board and Sam Cronin coming back from Gold Cup duty.

I agree, something about the photo's make it look cheap and 80's...
Bobo's example of Leah is a perfect example...

^ yup... these are supposed to be glamour pictures.

you gotta pay more attention to good lighting, and even a little photo touch-ups afterward.

Imagine how good the ones that look good in sun photo really are. Sun photographers suck!

Seattle, LA Galaxy, Toronto are top 3 in merchandise sales (double the other clubs)

The top teams in the league, in terms of merchandise sales, are, in order: the Seattle Sounders, Los Angeles Galaxy, Toronto F.C. , D.C. United, Chicago Fire , the Red Bulls, and Houston Dynamo.

The top three teams, Crystal said, are well ahead of the others, selling close to double the merchandise of other clubs. Seattle and Toronto have notoriously enthusiastic fan bases. Los Angeles has David Beckham, the most well known player in the league, if no longer the most popular.
.
.
Jersey sales across the league have been more predictable, with designated players leading the way. Individual jersey sales, Crystal said, are harder to track than overall merchandise sales for a variety of reasons. But according to the league’s research, the top sellers have been Beckham, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, Landon Donovan, Freddie Ljungberg, and Angel.

ESPN has bought the rights to broadcast Major League Soccer live in Britain and Ireland as well as games from some European leagues.
The Disney-owned network is building up its live football content in Britain after already securing rights to show some Premier League matches.
The first live MLS match will be on Aug. 8 when England midfielder David Beckham's Los Angeles Galaxy plays New England.

ESPN also announced Tuesday it has won the rights to show German, Portuguese, Russian and Dutch league football.

ESPN has been picking up rights previously held by Setanta after the network collapsed in Britain due to financial problems.

Next season, ESPN will show 46 live top-flight English matches in Britain and 30 Scottish fixtures.

Will be fun watching TSN having to learn to cope with new soccer content if ESPN pushes them to. Like an unnatural sex act.

Rod Smith and Darwen Dctsczhynczhynyn might be big guys, big football guys too, but they haven't got the head space to handle soccer.

Vic 'Hello Canada' Rauter and Dick 'Greayyyt, Syuperrb' Howard on the other hand...

LOL, yeah, she'll be at the top of 113 one of these games. A hangover prevented her from going to the Houston game.
