well, assuming the playoff format doesn't change (as per rumours) then I would put money on NY.
It's the better marketing device to have the final in the new Red Bull stadium.

It's an easy choice from an MLS point of view.

AS much as i agree on the REDBULL STADIUM factor

what was MLS take on giving Seattle the MLS cup in year one?

^ it's PR

Toronto got the ALL-STAR game last year... but obviously there will be a lean towards U.S. based teams by MLS.

I just want a stadium within easy reach when we plow through the play-offs and win the MLS Cup :D

Too optimistic?

Does the MLS take the field surface into account at all?

What about Chester? It would really help Philly Union season ticket sales. I think they are at 8,000 right now.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't MLS guarantee Toronto FC that they would hosting an MLS Cup game by a certain year?

I think we will never host it, even if we get rid of the turf. Toronto does nothing for ABC. Smallish stadium, potential for bad weather don't help.

New York new Reb Bull stadium is gonna be sick. Its the best venue by far in MLS and i think they do deserve to host teh final!

That is if the team stays afloat until 2010... they have what? 10points this entire season!! that is terrible...

we have been promised it by 2012...which means they are waiting for grass...which means no earlier than 2011

I think we will never host it

while MLS has made some pretty strange decisions.... that is one that they surely won't make.

sure we might have to wait until 2014 or 2015... but it will eventually happen.

i just hope it stays in the East after New York for 1 or 2 more years. the west has had, what.... 6/7 MLS Cups in the last 7 years including Seattle?

sucks

I have my doubts that grass is the issue with Toronto's potential to host the MLS Cup. It's gonna be the seating, plain and simple.

Isn't the MLS Cup in November? Toronto is pretty chilly in November. I was at the October 20th CCL Game in Montreal vs. Olimpia.. we threw snowballs at their goalie and I swear to god it was the coldest i've ever been.

^ Foxborough, New York, Chicago, and Columbus get just as cold. I agree that the league will likely want to keep the game played in warmer climes as much as possible, but I don't think prevailing weather conditions would automatically discount any city.

^ I'll bet that the more enclosed confines of Red Bull stadium will be several degrees warmer than the BMO lakeside wind tunnel!

as part of TFC coming into the league, Toronto was promised to host the MLS cup before the end of 2012...so it is coming...i would just prefer any time after this season when we have a squad good enough to win on home soil.
