View Full Version : How do you prefer your grass?

Just for the sake of discussion. When the day finally comes that we get grass what pattern would you perfer?

Lucky Strike

The top right version. Makes it easier for stupid MLS referees and assistants to call an offside properly. They need all the help they can get.

How do you perfer your grass?

Kids these days with their crazy drug lingo.;)

Serious answer, I'd go with top right, keep it simple, and makes it easier to watch the game on pvr afterwards and confirm if the linesman is or isn't an incompetent tool.

Not to belittle the thread (because it's something that hasn't been done before - I used to get so sick of the 10 "bring DeRo to TFC" threads a month) but I think most of us would go so far as to tolerate dandelions on our pitch if it meant having real grass! :D

ok, if i can't get the gubba I'd pick the rows across the field. the refs suck so badly in this league any help would be welcome

I always enjoy watching it more when I can check the lines from bad camera angles as well. It'll probably help the linesman who makes the hard-but good-call and gets slammed for it.

In relation to grass or my ID? Because if you mean the former, it is in fact pretty sad that people ought to think of drugs every time they hear the word "grass". If you meant the latter, I can appreciate the apparent irony, but it's in fact just a nickname I got as a kid. But regardless, I shouldn't need a disclaimer like this just to express my opinion and it's incorrect of you and others to mock me for it.

They don't think of drugs, they think of marijuana.

And why would it be incorrect for me to mock your opinion when you just degraded something I enjoy and is a part if my life.

You essentially told those of us who smoke that it's sad that we think of weed when a common term for it is mentioned, and in extension that it's sad that we enjoy weed or in any way focus on it. I take offense to that, some of my best friends are medical marijuana activists and one is the man who spearheaded the supreme court battle. Grass is a part of my life, and it's not sad.

I'll mock you if I feel like it, I don't have much respect for people who get off on judging others for smoking the herb.. especially those that step on the soapbox. You are entitled to your opinion, I won't dare tell you not to state it.. just letting you know where I am coming from and what my response will be.

It was in no was sad that I or anyone else thought of marijuana when reading the thread title.

True enough. I apologize. But you should know Lucky that most of what people have been taught about weed simply isn't true. I've spent 20 years as a journalist writing about not only the futility of the war on drugs but also the ridiculous nonsense people have been taught about marijuana, so it tends to set me off whenever people generally criticize it.

They don't think of drugs, they think of marijuana.

I suppose then, there lies the difference in our viewpoints (and with the others here who agree with you). For me, those two things are the same as it shares a lot of qualities with the other stuff.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effects_of_cannabis (for some examples)

You also labelled me as being on my soapbox which in retrospect, it did sound "soapbox-ish" and for that, you have my genuine apology. And even my above explanation of my soapboxiness sounds soapboxy. But to me: weed = drug; drug = bad; therefore I said what I said. In the end, it's simply not for me.

Also, next time if you disagree with what I said, attack my argument not my person. And that one was meant to be from the top of a soapbox.

I voted end-to-end rows and here's why.
I think it gives the keeper an advantage in his/her distribution.
Distance is talent and luck.
But end-to-end lines would enable the keeper to at least have a visual line to send the ball much the same as professional bowlers,
Serious:).

weed = "drug"
alcohol = "drug"
tobacco = "drug"

unless u abstain from all 3, then there is no right to talk.

alcohol = legal
tobacco = legal
weed = illegal

if u argue its wrong cause its illegal.. well nothing we can say about that. but that's just not the case now is it?

interesting sidebar: weed is illegal cause in the old wild west they thought it gave mexicans super strength! this was perpetuated continually through history by "puritan" alcoholic chain smoking politicians who ignored the results of every scientific study they commisioned because wouldn't u know it? those rascally scientists found nothing to put it in a category beyond alcohol and tobacco.

imo, u want to increase govt services without raising taxes? legalize it, tax it, profit.
