TORONTO -- Wednesday night's Carlsberg Cup friendly against River Plate might not impact the MLS standings, but for some Toronto FC players, it is the most important game of the season for the simple reason that they'll actually get to play. TFC interim head coach Chris Cummins has said that he'll be limiting the minutes of his usual starting XI on Wednesday, thus opening the door for some of the reserves to get on the pitch.

TFC visits its most-heated rival, the Columbus Crew, on Saturday, then is home next Wednesday for the first half of its CONCACAF Champions League qualifier against the Puerto Rico Islanders -- maybe the most important fixture TFC has played so far in its short history.
