why? they have a good thing going for them at Qwest field, minus grass

i dont think lack of grass is hurting Sounders ATM

it cant be a good thing, if its not yours, there borrowing.
And sooner rather than later Sounders fans will turn TFC fans since thats the trend, and start voicing themselves over get their own stadium, and how players wont be coming because the turf gets worn out from the football

Seattle is an interesting situation, because you have a rabid fanbase willing to sell out a 67,000 seat stadium for a high profile game.

Sounders co owner Paul Allen also owns Seahawks, hence easy Qwest Field sharing deal. I'm not sure if the Sounders ownership is willing to shell out multimillion bucks for another stadium. Not yet anyways. Plus it'd have to be 30,000-35,000 seater, if current Sounders game attendance holds, and those kind of stadiums are expensive as hell.

I don't think Sounders use Qwest field as practice facility, nor does the public get to play recreational football on it. So the current artificial turf on Qwest Field will actually last for a long time, unlike BMO Field

Although some Sounders supporters are grumbling about lack of grass, but I don't think it's not much of an issue right now, considering their team is competitive and winning games. Current arrangements for Sounders works. Why risk changing it?

I understand Seattles Rabid fan base of 30k+, but regardless if Paul Allen is owner of both teams, you got to believe that he would favor the SeaHawks more than then the Sounders.

I think football use, or should i say wear and tear, is worse than public use. But hey we shall only see. Its the sounder fans first year in MLS, they have a big fan base, they are going to start demanding things, like i said escpecially if they see how pur SG are. I just think fans would want their own home, not just a place they call home"

Just imagine, if TFC was owned by Rogers, and they share the Rogers Centre, and it had the same feel of Qwest, do you think you would want to stay in the Rogers Centre, or SG's wouldnt voice for a new stadium?

And you are right about SSFC are winning games, so fans dont have nothing to complain about.....but when they start loosing will it be okay

huh? The Seahawks have their own practice facility. I'd imagine they only use Qwest field for NFL games only which is what, once every other week?

That was a fantastic game! Yes, we've got a female capo. Yes, the turf sucks. Yes, we wish we had grass. Yes, we wish the game had been at Qwest. The decision was made, however, to have it at a sold out 5k "seat" Starfire instead of a half filled (probably could have drawn 15k) Qwest.

As for getting our own SSS, I kind of like playing at Qwest. For starters, the location is ideal. A new SSS would likely be out in the 'burbs, such as the existing Starfire.

Second, the atmosphere of Qwest for the standard soccer configuration (upper bowl tarped) is great with about 33k in the lower bowl. It feels loud and intimate, but we get to seat 33k which is a good long term attendance target. But, for a big match they can open the upper bowl and seat 67k if needed. It really delivers the best of all worlds.

But, grass would be nice. And it wouldn't break my heart to see the pointy ball team move out.

They are using Starfire because they didn't have enough lead time to put the semi-final in Qwest. They were ripping out the grass from the Chelsea yesterday.

If the Sounders get the final I assure you it will be at Qwest.
