Reaction to Beckham's first corner: a mixture of boos and cheers from the LA home supporters.

Gawd, these American announcers are pissing me! They talk too much!

fdasilva
07-19-2009, 09:14 PM
I stand corrected: EVERYONE is booing at Beckham

Also, American announcers sucking off Ronaldinho.

fdasilva
07-19-2009, 09:16 PM
What a miss by Eddie Lewis, should have been 1-0 LA.

fdasilva
07-19-2009, 09:19 PM
It took 9 minutes for the boos to become cheers for Beckham

Yohan

yeah. Lewis is a left footed player though.

1-0 Milan, Thiago Silva scores with some really poor defending from LA on the free kick.

Yohan

1-0 Milan

Dunno if Thiago Silva touched the ball, but LA setpiece defending sucks

fdasilva

Buddle subbed in the 22nd min (this is the type of thing im scared of for TFC, losing players to injury in these friendlies)

Shakes McQueen
07-19-2009, 09:38 PM
I like how rather than putting "MIL" or "ACM" in the scorebox, they actually crammed "MILAN" in there.

Made me laugh.

Dangerous free kick in Ronaldinho territory.

fdasilva

Goal LA, excellent counter attack from the failed Milan free kick

Shakes McQueen
07-19-2009, 09:40 PM
Hahaha - "Ronaldinho cannot carry this club on his own" <--- Commentators talking about the departure of Kaka`

Carry the club? He barely even contributed last season, when Kaka was still there!

Shakes McQueen

Man, could you imagine if LA beat Milan? What do you think the Milan supporters back home would do? Burn the city to the ground?

Alan Gordon scores after excellent Beckham longball to Donovan who crosses for Gordon to tap in

LA 1-1 Milan

If Becks and Landycakes don't like each other, it certain doesn't show on the field so far

These commentators are killing me. Ronaldinho is ripe for a career in the MLS.

Beckham's played some pretty impressive balls; it has to be said. Has it been mentioned why Gooch isn't in the squad?

fdasilva
07-19-2009, 09:48 PM
wow, this commentator LITERALLY LOVES Ronaldinho, this is the 3rd or 4th time that he's mentioned he's watched a different video of Ronaldinho... even his partner in the commentator box is kinda surprised..

fdasilva
07-19-2009, 09:53 PM
Milan midfield is giving the ball away in their defensive third very easily...

Shakes McQueen
07-19-2009, 09:54 PM
It's really amazing to see how far Ronaldinho has fallen from a few years ago. Some of the moves he had in the heyday of his time at Barcelona, were simply unbelievable.

Now he's a bench player for AC Milan, and currently being stifled by the backline of the Los Angeles Galaxy. :D

ripe for a stint in MLS? ;)

Nah, still plenty of top-level clubs that would like to have him, in the hopes he recaptures his old glory.

My guess is he comes to MLS at some point though. In fact, I'll put money on it. He's a total party animal, and would love it in America. And there will absolutely be an MLS side willing to pay him unholy sums of money to play for them, too.

He's also one of the five or so footballers in the world that the average American sports fan might recognize. He actually would be a smart signing for somebody as a DP.

fdasilva
07-19-2009, 10:09 PM
He'd get alot of shirt sales.

Classic Inzaghi goal, 2-1 Milan, excellent counterattack.

Ronaldinho with the trademark "no look" pass

LA is looking like one of the best teams in MLS lately. I am starting to believe they will win the MLS Cup.

fdasilva
07-19-2009, 10:49 PM
They'll go on a bad run eventually... LA showin Milan a thing or two about diving :D

fdasilva
07-19-2009, 10:52 PM
Interesting... Seedorf says he has 2 years left on his contract and he's 33 years old.

MLS commentator afterwards: "He's 33 years old right now, so he'll be 36 when he's available to come to MLS."

troy1982
07-19-2009, 10:56 PM
the galaxy have been dominating the last 15 minutes.

fdasilva
07-19-2009, 10:59 PM
LOL the Galaxy can actually win this, they've been dominating. If I was a Milan supporter, I would be very worried. Sure, there's no Pato, but even with Beckham, a club of Milan's stature should be going through their defense no problem, and Milan's classic defense? Lookin suspect too..

Also, do YOU want to be the next Ms. LA Galaxy??

Yohan
07-19-2009, 11:03 PM
rather competitive game. obviously Milan's match fitness is not there, but LA outright dominated Milan several times during the game

no fluke why LA is one of the hottest teams in MLS right now

very impressed by beckham, guy is class in the PUBLIC EYE at least. In the interview they had w/ him, he said he went to shake the hand of a riot squad member and the fellow left him hanging, lol. ouch.

While I think the way in which he forced the move to Milan was kind of backhanded to Los Angeles, I understand that his desire to play for his country compelled it. He deserves a bit of stick for everything that transpired, but I really do believe he intends to play hard for LA.

To my mind, there is absolutely no question of that. Ya, he's walking the edge of the knife but he's in an LA uniform now and I think he'll do a great job for them.

LA is third in the west and are on fire. Add Beckham to the mix and they just might take the division as well as going a long way in the play-offs.

That's weird that he would let some fans with signs get to him that badly. None of the signs described in that article were particularly controversial too.

However, I also know Goal.com have a tendency to embellish and over-exaggerate in their articles, so I will take it with a grain of salt for now.

Another take on the Becky incident

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/soccer/07/19/becks.booed.ap/index.html

one dude from BS said something like, if you're an LA Riot Squad member, you want less focus on Becky, and more on overall good displayed by LA Galaxy vs a tough opponent in AC Milan, and how their 3rd and 4th strikers (Gordon and Jordan) scored on AC Milan
