Would they've kept Johann longer?

it's because he is rehabbing an injury, so they are clearing a roster space.

so in 2 seasons of expansion drafts, the 2 players TFC lost have not survived one season in MLS before being released.

That was my thought... we just don't seem to do well with our players heading elsewhere.

It seems that international duty and the injury made him redundant and the empty spot was more important than having the player. I am not sure of their cap situation considering the players they already have, but I can't see them bringing in anyone noteworthy.

Hopefully, this gives other teams something to think about in the expansion draft in the future ;)

Or maybe check the guy's first name before you draft

Sounders probably wanted to get rid of him earlier but they couldnt because he was injured it's against Player Union rules to release anyone who is injured.

It is in my view they viewed him as a spare part that their was no need to pay for. He had some good moments for the Reds including the goal against the Galaxy so he will always be a member of the TFC family. But things happen and he has to find a new place to play.

the expansion draft certainly hasn't hurt us.
although the year that Van/Port come in might be the first time we lose somebody significant.

If you thought Chad Barrett was bad in terms of finishing... ;)

Wouldn't doubt it.

It's tough for these players that have to get used to the ball spinning the opposite direction in this hemisphere.
