Does Toronto FC know the way to road win in San Jose?
Paul Attfield
Leave it to one of the newest kids on the Toronto FC block to state the obvious.
“All that matters in this league is getting to the playoffs, doesn't matter if you're first or No.8,” said defender Nick Garcia, he of only two Major League Soccer games in the red of TFC but with nine seasons of experience in this league before the current one, including a championship-winning season in his rookie year.

Wynne returns to help Reds on the road
Mark Polishuk
TORONTO -- Toronto FC return to the pitch on Saturday in San Jose for their first match in two weeks, but for defender Marvell Wynne, it has been a much longer wait. Wynne is back with the Reds after missing the last six games due to international duty with the United States at the FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa, and is eager to get his first taste of game action since TFC's 3-0 loss to Houston on May 30.
"I can't wait," Wynne said. "Just watching the game being played, you always feel that you could do this, or do that, or make a difference. Hopefully I can come back, make a difference and get an assist or something in the game."

MIAMI -- Not satisfied with a mere quarter-final berth, Canada's young soccer team took its quest for a Gold Cup title a step further by winning its group in convincing fashion.
Patrice Bernier and Marcel De Jong scored as Canada tied Costa Rica 2-2 Friday in its final game in the group stages at the CONCACAF championship tournament.
The result gave Canada the top spot in Group A with seven points after 1-0 victories over Jamaica and El Salvador in the first two group matches.

Canadians spoiled for choice
(http://www.cbc.ca/sports/blogs/2009/07/canadians_spoiled_for_choice.html)Nigel Reed
Take a moment before you plunge into this week's offering. Go to your "Happy Place" and dream of your perfect moment. No hurry here. Transport yourself to that once in a lifetime, self-indulgent experience which would leave you with aching cheeks simply because you could not stop smiling.
Personally, I would land somewhere between playing a leisurely 18 holes with Nicklaus at Augusta in full bloom, and singing on stage with Sinatra at a sold-out Carnegie Hall.

Yup - the last two weeks did seem unusually long. We've been spoiled with too many games in a short period of time, and now we'll have to suffer through a long series of away games. Ah well.

Hopefully, with the time off, they'll be fresh and ready to go against one of the worst sides in the league. GO TFC! :scarf:
