Reds face Earthquakes in San Jose
Toronto FC begins second half of season Saturday
TorontoFC.ca
The San Jose Earthquakes play host to Toronto FC at Buck Shaw Stadium as the teams meet in an interconference matchup for the first time this season. The Quakes have started to turn their season around over the last five weeks, though they still sit at the foot of the Western Conference. TFC begins a road-heavy second half of the season coming off a loss at Real Salt Lake two weeks ago that came after back-to-back home wins against New York.

Gerba showing fine form at Gold Cup
RYAN JOHNSTON
Canadian striker Ali Gerba is on a goal-a-game pace for Canada at the Gold Cup. Not bad for a player who is still trying to shake off the rust.
Gerba will try to extend his goal-scoring streak on Friday when Canada looks to finish strong in group play with a win over Costa Rica.

Canada strong in Gold Cup play
The Canadians hope to continue their strong run in Gold Cups and build momentum toward finally returning to the World Cup.
ADAM H. BEASLEY
For the Canadian national team, the World Cup has overwhelmingly been empty.
The nation has made just one appearance in the world's biggest sporting event -- and that came in 1986.
But when it comes to the CONCACAF Gold Cup, this hemisphere's top tournament, Canada has traditionally shown surprising grit and resilience.

Some interesting Copa Oro highlights last night. Let's hope there is no chaos tonight with the boys. Good thing this is now a nothing game for Canada. Although I hope they come out to win! Sporting my Atiba Jersey today at work!

The Vuvuzelas are one of the most annoying things in the world. I wanted to smash my TV last Friday during the CAD/JAM match......god I hate those things.

Actually the Mexicans have had those damn things forever. Every match against them in Azteca sounds like you're in a damn beehive, with 80k+ and the roof on that thing it's the most annoying sound!

Its not a nothing game- its for first place and a chance to beat one of the top teams in the region.

Plus, we can avoid those monsters Guadeloupe for a bit longer...

So, one of the stories above says that we're through to the Quarters regardless of what happens tonight. Is this true or do we need a point at least?

Nothing game in the sense if we lose we are still in....but I don't want them to tank. Maximum points is always best.

It is true. The Mexico/Panama draw last night guaranteed Canada and the U.S. through to the quarters.

CONCACAF.......FIFA might step in here. That was just ridiculous. I don't think the intention was to kick the player though. It looked more that he was trying to stop the ball since it was out of play. He seemed to be a little shocked by the player's reaction from the clips.

It is already in one of the articles posted above....that Panama/Mexico draw made sure that at worse we would be one of the 2 3rd place qualifiers.

The Mexico-Panama tie guarantees Canada one of the 2 best 3rd place finishes at the least, which qualifies for the next round (quarter finals).

As little as a point tonight secures 1st place for Canada in Group A.:canada:
