Interesting article on who's making the big bucks in MLS from beginning of the year

Toronto would be leading with 7 players on top 50 list

"#20 Jeff Cunningham - Ask Toronto FC fans whether this guy is worth more than a bag of soccer balls. Hasn't scored a big goal in eons."

^

defo agree about Kljestan and Schelleto being underpaid though

Klejstan's had a pretty bad year so far for Chivas. It's like his will to play just got deflated after all the Euro trials didn't work out.

Shitlicker... well, I say he's worth his money, but I don't think he's necessarily underpaid, if you compare him to other star players in MLS and their impact on their respective teams

13. Dwayne DeRosario (http://toronto.fc.mlsnet.com/players/bio.jsp?team=t280&player=derosario_d&playerId=der474619&statType=current) (Canada), Toronto FC, $357,000.00

You can make some interesting comparisons when you post all the TFC players together. I would argue that DeRo, Guevara, and Robinson are giving us a real good return on the club's investment, but Barrett doesn't seem worth over $175,000 to me. The same could be said for Vitti and his $303,000.00 price tag.

Good find, Yohan. Always interesting to take a look at the numbers behind the players.

^ I was trying to be diplomatic with Barrett. :D

Vitti, hmmmmm...I'm still so completely unconvinced with him. He certainly LOOKS like he's a threat out on the pitch and plays with a bit of confidence, but...I dunno...

I just dunno.

oy vey zmir! vitti's and barret's salaries are out of this world. i bet we can get 1 player twice better than both of them put together for their combined salary. synergy people SYNERGY!

also i read today in israeli news that shai abutbul from hapoel tel aviv was offered 350,000 a year to play for new york red bulls... hes a carl robinson type of player, except, well... he's ALOT BETTER, since he knows how to pass and shoot! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyGm16qy91k
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeO2380XFao&feature=related (some highlights here too, but mostly talking with the guy about his success/injury)

so just something to think about...

I dunno why the Shite would sign a DM since Celades is a pretty damn good DM. Unless this Israeli dude is going to play AM, which the Shite really needs help at

A half decent AM plus healthy Angel would make the Shite a dangerous team again

I dunno if anyone can understand that 2nd vid, but he has a GREAT attitude. Him calming his parents down in the hospital was something I dunno if I've ever seen a pro athlete do. Normally if they're hurt they're worried about money, if they'll play again etc. He just said I'll live life, don't worry, everythings fine. I thought he was older too, only 26? That'd be a real good pickup for the shitebulls. The IPL isn't a bad league, theres definitely some talent there.

Ya I figured haha. My hebrew isn't great, kinda rusty, but I can get the general idea. Actually if Mo was smart he'd be looking there. Lots of talent, not that well paid (Basketball is THE sport in Israel), and most Israelis would looooove to come live in Canada or the US for a while. Also look at the Benayoun deal with Liverpool, they don't reaaally care about money, more being in a place they want to be in.

No, if Mo was smart, he'd look in Djibouti, because... it's got a pretty cool name. Mo is so fucking dumb for not looking in places I tell him to look. What an idiot.

YOHAN - great find on this article. We've been debating this article, and the TFC side of it all morning at the office...

Although the boss says "bad find yohan" you've killed all productivity today! :)

Wasn't there an Isreali kid here on a trial last year? His name might have been Stern.

And remember when it comes to Barrett, in MLS the Americans will always be overpaid. This is a league that's supposed to be developing American players, afterall and doesn't have many international roster spots.
