At least it's not TFC so we don't have to read another Cathall "hooligan" article.

Timbers fans raised a huge banner saying "Hey Keller Pull a Cobain" with a shotgun underneath it! Imagine the negative press if our supporters raised such a banner...

I suppose if jeers or looks could kill, then this might have been the case, but otherwise you're being overly dramatic. While there are elements of ECS (Seattle) or TA (Portland) who fancy themselves as "hooligans", most of the real battle is over who has more creative 'tifo, chants, supports their team more, etc.

Given there were probably over 1000 away supporters, half of whom had been drinking for HOURS before the game; they put the beer garden RIGHT below the ECS section; and this was a MAJOR derby, then there were almost no incidents of violence to note.

The only three items I've heard about were:
1. In the beer garden, a TA member steals the flags from a two pole of an NES (Seattle) member. NES member is left with nothing but the poles, with which he then starts to wave at various TA members and security. Security hog ties him and carries him out.

2. After the match, a TA member boards an ECS bus (to taunt? offer directions? ask for a beer?) and gets shove/punch and they take his scarf.

3. TA big meanie steals kid's Sounders scarf. TA accuses ECS of making stuff up, but, they'd really like the scarf in (2) returned, it was was quite special to the owner.

TA claim they were on their good behavior since they were afraid a riot (which they may or may not like to start) or real violence (which they don't approve of, unless ECS starts it) would put their MLS bid at risk.

Hell, there's more violence at a school board meeting!

here's a link to a Oregan newspaper website - didn't see anything about battles. But check out video for unique TIFO - chainsawing down Seattle's needle.
