does a closed door friendly of this nature count as a 'cap'?

not being a dick, I'm genuinely curious.

dont think so it had to be a full international, friendly competition etc

this is a match where all players will likely get a run out..unlimited subs

That is an insane strike rate for any CMNT player at any position. I look forward to watching him play in the Gold Cup.

He's prolific as hell for Canada, hopefully he can reproduce his form for the national team at TFC.

So he ended up scoring twice, Bernier with the other in a 3-0 win. http://www.canadasoccer.com/tourney/FIFA_WC/game_profile.asp?gameId=1760

The one huge benefit of bringing Gerba in, is that he should also have some pre-existing chemstry with guys like DeRo, from the MNT. Hopefully he can mesh well immediately.

Gerba, one on a header the other on a penalty (read the story dude, ;) )

Hey, maybe we'll finally score from the spot occasionally as well!

^its on the CSA website...which means it has a 50% chance of not being accurate and 30% chance that it was 3-0 guatamala instead

Late in the first half, Guatemala’s Fredy Thompson took down Julian de Guzman. The play brought both teams to the centre of the pitch. As this was a friendly match, both Thompson and de Guzman were replaced for substitutions.

can someone explain what the bolded had to do with the previous sentence?

It means there was a dirty tackle and both players and teams came together and instead of sending off both players the ref allowed them to be subbed.

Gerba is moving up in Canada's all-time scoring list. DeRo better look out.:canada:

Player...................Caps........Goals
Dale Mitchell..............55............19
John Catliff................44............18
Alex Bunbury..............64............16
Dwayne De Rosario...52............15
Ali Gerba..................24............13

Ali Gerba can easily become Canada all time leading goal scorer, I kno I'll probably gonna take flack but I put Ali ahead of any current striker we have right now. But if he does top the list, then Dale mitchell will offically become a bum

Gerba is a fine striker. He may not be the most well-rounded player we've got, but his ability to finish is second to none right now in Canada. Poaching may seem like garbage work, but as any Torontonian would say right now, someone's gotta take out the trash.:D

Given Gerba's current strike rate, it is inevitable that he will pass Dale Mitchell on our all-time scoring list. Even if that happens, though, it won't take anything away from what Mitchell accomplished as a player. Mitchell may have been a complete failure as a coach, but he did a fine job representing this country on the pitch. Like him or not, Dale Mitchell and the '86 World Cup team have a place in Canadian soccer history.

catliff has 19 as well

According to what source? All of the sources I've read - including the CSA web site - state that Mitchell has 19 and Catliff has 18. In addition, Mitchell is always listed as Canada's leading scoring, not a co-leader with Catliff.

knowing TFC's luck he'll start playing and won't score in his first 10 games.

Man ... Ali Gerba's strike rate is tremendous. The man must have amazing national pride to play so well for Canada yet mediocre in his professional career.

Well, ten goals in only 24 appearances for the MK Dons last year is much better than mediocre.

Hopefully that streak continues with TFC. :scarf:
