TFC looks pretty in pink
Vitti finally scores as team moves into second in the East by taming road-weary Red Bulls
Daniel Girard
Toronto FC coach Chris Cummins admits he was worried about a "Cup hangover" as his side returned to action after winning the Canadian championship.
And, for nearly a half-hour last night, his fears were realized as TFC looked sluggish against the New York Red Bulls, the worst team in Major League Soccer.

De Rosario continues scoring streak
Paul Attfield
In a week of labour unrest across the city of Toronto, BMO Field was the site of some strike action worth celebrating last night.
High-priced Argentine import Pablo Vitti struck first for Toronto FC in a 2-0 win over the last-place New York Red Bulls, and with exactly half the Major League Soccer season now in the books and with Vitti’s $300,000 salary hanging like a millstone around the neck of the franchise until now, his first goal for TFC was certainly not cheap.

Toronto FC too much for Red Bulls
CBC.ca
Pablo Vitti and Dwayne De Rosario scored as Toronto FC blanked the New York Bulls 2-0 in front of 20,902 raucous fans at BMO Field on Wednesday night.
Toronto FC (6-5-4) vaulted into second place in the MLS Eastern Conference, one point behind D.C. United.
It marked Toronto's second triumph in less than two weeks over the Red Bulls, who remain winless on the road in 21 straight matches (0-15-6) — an MLS record.

Vitti makes his mark
THE CANADIAN PRESS
TORONTO -- Pablo Vitti says he can finally relax after scoring his first goal for Toronto FC, but his coach doesn't want him feeling too comfortable just yet.
Vitti scored for the first time in his Major League Soccer career and Dwayne De Rosario continued his torrid offensive play as Toronto downed the lowly New York Red Bulls 2-0 on Wednesday night at a muggy BMO Field.
"Delighted for Pablo to net his first goal," said Toronto FC interim head coach Chris Cummins. "He's over the moon obviously himself. He said `I can relax now'. I told him he can't."

Mission accomplished
TFC takes back-to-back games off Red Bulls, stays in thick of things
LANCE HORNBY (lance.hornby@sunmedia.ca)
Toronto FC reached the halfway point of its season last night, with a win, a trade and hopes of first place and the playoffs alive and well.
Taking full advantage of an undermanned and listless New York Red Bulls team for the second time in 11 days, TFC (6-5-4) weaved passes at will in a 2-0 win before 20,902 at BMO Field.
But the road gets harder in the second half of the season with four of the first five games on the road and a busy schedule of friendlies and CONCACAF tournament games in July and August.

Toronto FC dominate visiting Red Bulls
Squad extends its win streak to three games
Eric Koreen
TORONTO -- It is the reality of playing in perpetually bunched-up Major League Soccer. A few wins bring a team to the top of the standings. A few losses ground you.
The key just might be stopping your confidence from travelling the same path.
"I keep reminding everyone that two weeks ago, we were maybe the worst team," Toronto FC midfielder Carl Robinson said after the club's latest win, a 2-0 victory over New York last night at BMO Field.

TFC send Canadian Harmse to Chivas
Toronto FC announced that they have acquired allocation money from Chivas USA. In exchange, Chivas receives midfielder Kevin Harmse.

“The entire staff wants to wish Kevin all the best,” said manager, director of soccer Mo Johnston. “Kevin requested a move back to the U.S. We tried very hard to hang on to him, but this move is what’s best for Kevin right now.

Vitti, Attakora breakout for Toronto FC
Reds gaining momentum with third straight victory in all competitions
Mark Polishuk
TORONTO -- After 13 games played and no goals scored, Pablo Vitti was a target for criticism in some corners for his lack of finishing. Given that the loan deal that brought the striker to Toronto FC from Independiente is non-guaranteed, there were even some whispers that Vitti's days wearing the TFC red might be numbered.

They've only played 12 games due to their involvement in Super Liga

His g/f is in the States.

Perfectly understandable desire, given his circumstances.

Ya that is true. He really sucks so it doesn't make much difference which team he plays for. May as well follow the girl around.

From the Mark polischuk article.

"the BMO Field faithful gave him a raucous ovation following his goal, even chanting his name.
"That encouraged me and gave me a lot of confidence," Vitti said"

I drunkenly created a thread to make this point last night, but that was awesome, why doesn't this happen more often, just a simple loud chant to recognise a player who's just done something good.

I wonder if Vitti will continue to play well or if we will all be back to bashing the shit outta him in no time...

Nice video. I'm very surprised to see Garcia take charge like that. I think he's turning into a fantastic new signing for us. Not the greatest player on his own, but truly a great general at the back.
