So on Soccer by Ives Blog it says that the game against PR Islanders is on Wednesday July 29th as opposed to the 28th that was mentioned on the board.

The concacaf site doesn't mention anything about the teams playing on what day. http://www.concacaf.com/competitions/champsleague/2009_10schedule.aspx

Can anyone confirm this date is correct??

I think it was mentioned that the game could be on either the 28th or the 29th. Since I believe the MLS all-star game is on the 29th, the team (and probably the league) are pushing for the 28th.

Not sure if a date has been finalized though...

But as the CONCACAF site shows there are 3 days to play so if they wish they can play on the 30th.

This was issued yesterday by CONCACAF. We play on the 29th.

I'd push for 28th too, just to get max rest time between games

If this is true then the All Star Game is an even bigger joke than it already was. You have to think the MLS would have known when these Champions League games were going to be. Why can't the MLS just be a real soccer league...

Well MLS was caught off guard because CONCACAF pushed up their schedule of games so as to not interfere with the international schedule and WCQ matches. You can understand how this would be confusing to MLS.......

Also, I'd like to point out again the scheduling for the Canada 1- Islanders Match:

Before June 18th:
Tuesday, July 28
Vancouver Whitecaps or Toronto FC (CAN) vs. Puerto Rico Islanders (PUR), 10 p.m. Eastern

After:
Wednesday, July 29
Toronto FC (CAN) vs. Puerto Rico Islanders (PUR), 8 p.m. Eastern

Looks as though currently DC plays Chalatenango on 28 July, we play PR on 29 July, and the Red Craps play W Connection on 30 July.

I'm actually a bit worried that the MLS suits in New York will try to make player attendance at their all-star game mandatory. I really hope someone in the know can clarify this.

Not sure, but no team in their right mind would send their players, even if it was "mandatory". They'd just deal with the consequences later (likely a fine). I doubt mls is stupid enough to force anyone to an all-star game though.

considering that you field about 14-players or so since its just 1 MLS side, there is enough players from other teams to compensate.


+ I think Dominic Kinear wouldn't screw any team in a CCL game over like that when selecting the team for the all star game


Seattle, Houston, Columbus, Chicago ALONE could get you enough guys to play.
