Mornin,

TFC gets double shot of Bulls
Glitch brings back New York
LANCE HORNBY (lance.hornby@sunmedia.ca)
New York, New York, a team so nice, they're playing it twice.
A scheduling glitch caused by the Real Madrid friendly in August means Toronto FC gets the last-place Red Bulls at home twice in 11 days, and coming off the high of winning the Nutrilite Canadian Championship in Montreal last week conditions are right for a second triumph over New York tonight at BMO Field.

TFC fans pay up
Madrid game sold out, Gerba signs, Bulls here again
Lance Hornby
Despite all the carping from fans about the high prices, Toronto FC announced today that tickets for their friendly against Real Madrid on Aug. 7 are sold out.
Protests were loud when the game was announced in bits and pieces and not included on the season’s tickets packages, but with subscribers given a chance to buy in at a special loyalty price, starting at $125 up towards $200, it took about two weeks to sell the 20,000 seats at BMO Field

Garcia engages in good deeds on and off the field
Kristian Dyer
When you think about lockdown defenders in MLS, newly acquired Nick Garcia of Toronto FC comes to mind.
Tough, physical and one of the better distributors out of the back line, Garcia rarely gets beaten.
But one of Garcia's passions is to keep young people from being locked up themselves.

Toronto FC faces Red Bulls in rematch
Kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. on GOLTV
Toronto FC and the New York Red Bulls meet for the second time in an 11-day span at BMO Field, after the Reds claimed a 2-1 victory on June 13. That victory ended a two-game league losing streak for TFC; they haven't played a league match, but staged a miracle victory in Montréal in between to claim the Canadian Championship. The Red Bulls returned home in the meantime, putting an end to a five-game losing skid with a 1-1 draw against Seattle Sounders FC.

No gloating for TFC with Bulls on horizon
Despite Canadian title, Toronto can't dismiss last-place New York
Daniel Girard
Fresh from winning their first trophy, Toronto FC faces the New York Red Bulls, the league's worst team.
But Dwayne De Rosario said the players aren't about to take tonight's visitors lightly, especially when a win would put TFC alone in second place in the tight Eastern Conference standings.

Toronto FC fans must wait for new striker Gerba
Canadian national team star enjoying homecoming, training with club
Mark Polishuk / MLSnet.com Staff
TORONTO -- Canadian soccer fans who have long waited for Ali Gerba to join Toronto FC will have to wait just a few weeks more before they can see the national team star officially take to the pitch at BMO Field. TFC announced the signing of the 27-year-old striker on Tuesday, though since the MLS transfer window doesn't open until July 15, the earliest date that Gerba would be available to Toronto would be July 18, when the Reds play host to the Houston Dynamo.

New Galacticos will play in Real Madrid-TFC friendly
CBC.ca
Expect the new Galacticos to come to town when Real Madrid visits Toronto FC in August.
The Reds said Tuesday that fans should get a look at newly signed stars Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo during the exhibition friendly between TFC and Madrid at BMO field on Aug. 7.
The agreement with the La Liga powerhouse calls for the team's summer transfers (i.e. Ronaldo and Kaka) to play at least 45 minutes of the game, barring injury.

Nice to see Garcia getting involved.
Don't know how much Petke would've done tonight against us.
Don't care about the Galacticos part.

Well, good that we'll get both Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo to the friendly. I wonder how many of the season ticket holders bought the ducats for that one? And will they broadcast the game on TV?

At least MLSE is happy the way things have worked out. :prrr:

I bought one. OK I got suckered into it. I couldn't stop myself. I read all the anti-MLSE stuff. I was as pissed as everyone else. But I just couldn't pass up the opportunity.
