so, i've been thinking about doing this for awhile now (mainly for next season when I can actually get tickets or when/if we make the playoffs), but i've purchased a trumpet and am slowly becoming proficient in learning all the TFC chants on it.

my question is: would i be able to play it near/close to the supporters section? would I even be allowed in BMO field with it?

I misread the title - thought it said strumpet. My bad. Anyone want to make a strumpet thread?

Chicago Supporters brought a trumpet in and played the TETRIS tune or what ever it is called...

Are you proficient in strumpets? Can you play TFC songs on them? I'm sure they are allowed in the supporters section...:hump:

Playing at a TFC game = rough gig lol.

I've been thinking of bringing my horn in for a while, but I have a feeling it'll piss some people off.

There's got to be a way to make this work. Maybe just start out as a "signal corps", using the trumpet to communicate the start of a chant, and go from there.

The air horns we hear from some US-based teams are pitiful, mostly because they seem to discourage actual singing. But there's got to be a way to put them to good use.

At the very least, you might try putting something together with TRN in the SW corner.

just bring your trumpet and play it if you want to. you can do what you want.

Wow, weird. I was just remembering back to a thread yesterday, waaaay back, that proposed to exact same idea. People liked it then, and I'm assuming they will like it now. I know I do.

No problem with the trumpet idea as long as it does not lead to what it is like at the current confederations cup in South Africa. Tried watching a couple of games but the continous noise from thousands of horns is really annoying. The game between Brazil and Italy I actually turned on the mute button it was so bad.

I was thinking of doing this as well - only two things were stopping me : I don't have a trumpet and I can't play one either - oh, and I only have a partial pack, so I wouldn't be at many games... so i guess that's three things.

As far as a playlist is concerned, I think keeping it strictly to bullfight, western themes is the way to go... maybe mix in some 60's war movie inspired riffs (you know, Guns of Navarone - stuff like that).

Listen to any England game, especialyl an away game, and you'll hear the barmy army making good use of a trumpet. i think it would be tops.

i remember bringing this up and then it being brought up again just for a lot of ppl to turn it down... i know there are a few trumpet players on this forum, myself included... i think it would sound badass with multiple trumpets.. we can stand behind the oppositions goalie and REALLY give him an earful!!! :D

Wow ... I remember someone brought this up last season (or maybe the first season) and the idea was shot down as soon as it was mentioned. I'm glad there seems to be support for it now. If someone knows how to play it, a trumpet will be a very good addition to the support.

why not have them going for as many chants possible?

maybe this crowd will actually learn something about melody..

..and with a trumpet, we could introduce a "Go West" based chant, a "Tom Hark" based chant, and fix "Forza" finally.

LOL.

Trumpets could be good. As long as they don't become monotonous drones like they're used for during the Latin American games.

Hell let's just start a band! 2nd thought...

Prohibited Items:

Noisemakers (air horns, whistles, cowbells, horns, etc.)
....

(and any of those friggin' South African horns)

Maybe a deal can be worked out to bring in a limited number of horns and cowbells into the supporters sections, like the drums. IMHO people in the other parts of the stadium would be able to follow the chants better because the sound of the higher pitched instruments would carry better. And as long as its coordinated and not just random people with them, it shouldn't be annoying.

There was a boy with his parents in the front rows of section 120 who had brought a trumpet to Thursdays game. Security intervened because 120 is not designated as a supporter's section. Perhaps we should all bring a musical instrument to drive stupid security crazy...

98% of people don't know how to sing it in the proper melody anyways. (Sara' Perche Ti Amo) And if it WAS done to the proper melody, EVERYONE would sing the la la la's because it all flows together and sounds fucking wiked.

The guy who always wears the Mexican-wrestling mask and the TFC cape also had his blow horn confiscated by security. It was one of those long plastic ones they use in South Africa (I hate the sound they make, but that's besides the point). He was in a supporters' section. Next they'll be regulating how loud you can cheer.
