By scoring Toronto FC's first goal, Danny Dichio ensured his place in the city's soccer history, a status confirmed every game when fans serenade him to mark the occasion.Now, he's looking to the future.
Dichio, the tall, bald Englishman who has been TFC's most popular player since the team kicked off in 2007, yesterday officially became technical director of the Thornhill Soccer Club.

He was on the pitch yesterday at BMO Field, but with his contract not yet finalized with Major League Soccer and Team Canada calling him away for Gold Cup duty in Los Angeles later this week, it's going to be mid-July before he's cleared.

Velez excited to return home
Defender to face former team in Champions League Preliminary Round
Toronto FC defender Marco Velez is looking forward to making a return to his homeland of Puerto Rico to face the Islanders in the Preliminary Round of the CONCACAF Champions League. The Reds secured their place as Canada's representative in the tournament with a stunning 6-1 demolition of Montreal Impact last week, and the win set up the chance for Velez to face his former team. The first match between the teams will be played at BMO Field during the week of July 28, with the return match in San Juan during the week of August 4 (dates to be confirmed).

Mixed weekend for Academy teams
Seniors defeated but Junior team wins
Toronto FC's Senior and Junior Academy teams were in action over the weekend with mixed results. The Senior Academy team were beaten 5-2 by defending Champions Serbian White Eagles in the Canadian Soccer League. They were 5-0 down at half time and despite scoring twice after the break, fell to their first defeat of the season in the CSL.
