So, ummm, like what did you guys do with the 15,000 or so seat cushions that littered the field after our first win?

Just wondering is all...

:D

get 'em out, dust 'em off, and let's go again Paul!

MLSE would only need to pay for another few thousand, so it wouldn't even cost much!

Re-purposed? Didn't they have the date and match details on them along with "official opening of BMO Field" or something?

Wow. BMO are even cheaper than MLSE - who woulda thought?! :D

Thanks

Hope so. Coaches want to keep the guys focused on the road ahead...not give them any excuses, so we're still working on it. At this point I'd say we'll do something after warm up, and with one or two players to represent the team. Need to defer a little bit to the judgement of the coaching staff here, while still giving you all an opportunity to celebrate it.

The good news is the team is not resting on this in any way.

Whatever we do I'll come on here and tell you so you can prepare. For now plan on being at the stadium (in your seat) around 7:10pm.

i remember getting my seat cushion at the gate and trying to carry it around with a hot dog and drink. I thought it was a pain in the ass (pardon the pun) to carry around, and I didn't think I needed a goddamn seat cushion of all things.... so before the game I just left it in the washroom on the counter. I wish I still had it!

Why aren't all the goal counted towards the stats on the Torontofc website? says Amado is leading with 5 but really he has 7 as does De Ro??????

MLS stats. CC games don't count.

Although there should be a place on the site that details the records and stats for this competition.

There will always be stupid people...so the number of questions is somewhere near infinity.

The problem with seat cushions (cause I drag one around lots) is how the carry the sucker. Maybe I'LL make one with a hidden zipper so I can put wee bottles of scotch in the padding....hmm.....hmmm..

i have a question for Paul...

what exactly is the MLS international transfer window that is keeping Ali Gerba from playing tomorrow night...he's been released from his club and is without a team, so isn't he a free agent, wouldn't he then be allowed to play for us right away...can you shine some light into this situation please?

Here is the clarification

As far as FIFA is concerned, a "transfer window" is actually a registration period. That is to say, players may only be registered during one of two FIFA mandated periods in the season (start of season and middle). The exception to this is players who are out of contract.

Now, you might say "but Steve, surely you know Gerba is out of contract, so that exception should apply!". Not quite. Actually, the exception only applies to players who have been released prior to the end of the registration period for the league they are going to. Confused yet?

So, to use Gerba as an example. Since MLS has a registration period of Jan 15 to Apr 15, if Gerba had been released by MK dons before Apr 15, he would have been eligable to sign for TFC whenever he wanted to. However, since he was not released until May, he cannot now be registered in MLS until the beginning of our next transfer window, which is to say July 15. If this wasn't the case, clubs could just completely ignore windows, by releasing a player and allowing another team to sign them outside of the window.

Right, but why release Ricketts so early? Unless there's some other mls rule which i don't know about, which is highly likely. He's a useful bench player, better than having an empty spot on the roster.

I think He had to be release before the end of june so that his contract doesn't count in full against TFC salary cap.

Need the cap space now that he's signed. Could have been done July 15 I suppose, but it's part of the negotiating dynamic with Rohan - the earlier he was released, the better it is for RR in terms of his options elsewhere.

Paul-I see TFC and its players (men) are supporting brest cancer, the number one cancer killer for females, tonight. What are the chances of getting these players to build awareness and promoting prostate cancer, the number one cancer killer of men. Wouldn't it make sense that them being men promote awareness of something that effects other men, and has a high probability of effecting 2 or 3 of them sometime down the road?

No, because it's not commercially viable to promote prostate cancer. That's not a dig at Paul or even TFC - just look around at how many products are sporting the pink ribbon nowadays for breast cancer - fucking loads. People are fighting over it because it sells so many extra units. There is expensive litigation going on in Canada right now about who has the right to put the pink ribbon on bottles of wine. It's fucking crazy.

And how much do they actually give to the charity? 10% or less, plus a one off licensing fee. So no wonder MLSE has joined the bandwagon on this one.

The only question is how much longer will the public be deceived by this crap and realise they are just lining corporate pockets and would be much, much better off just giving the money straight to the charity instead.

Seriously people, instead of spending 130 bucks on a pink TFC shirt (wtf?!) just give 10 bucks to breast cancer research. They'll get about the same level of benefit from it and you don't have walk around dressed like a fucking pimp.

+1 ... most charities are just business now aday anyhow w/ small fractions of the funds going to research, and if it does go into research it is largely on treatment side and not preventions ... you think they can't tell us what is causing these cancers? or industry is more interested in getting you sick so they can sell you medicine.
