View Full Version : Pre-match: June 24 Shite Bulls @ THE CHAMPIONS Toronto FC

TFC USA
06-19-2009, 03:39 PM
Game is on GolTV at 7:30 PM ET. We should get Marvell Wynne back but I really don't care at this point.

Fuck it, we're winning this one. Shite Bulls will be given no mercy.

Toronto FC 9 (Dichio 7, 17, 25, Guevara 44, DeRo 57, 62, Frei 68, 77, 88) Shite Bulls 0.

2-0 sounds like a good result for us

the lads needs to stay focused and not get overly confident after beating montreal

play our game and the goals will come

I think we'll win this one. The players are on cloud 9, and so are we, so we'll be difficult to deal with for NYRB. I'm hoping for an atmosphere fit for newly crowned Champions as well. :)

Guevara and Serioux missed training today due to ankle injuries. Cummins hoping they will be ready for Wednesday. Gerba trained today as he waits for his transfer clearance(as per TFC website).

Glad to be playing a truly terrible team at home in our first outing post Miracle.

Some risk of a hangover for the boys in this game - that was pretty heady wine, last time out!

It should be interesting to see how TFC play this game after kind of performance they had in Montreal. Not only that, but eastern conference standing is so close right now. We can't afford to drop points especially against inferior teams like Shitebulls.

+1

With that said, I say the boys come out focused and strong and pull out a 3-0. I pre'd 2-1 last game so lets see if I can continue the streak!

After the win against Montreal, their confidence should be sky-high. I predict a comfortable win, as long as the energy drinks don't manage to get an early lead and throw off their groove.

I usually see a hangover in situations like this. Hope it doesn't happen. As long as we can settle in early and control the first 25 mins we should get the result. 2-1 TFC. Dichio (due after all that hard work in Montreal) and Guevarra.

I think that the boys will win 3-0. Danny, Dero and Barrett with the goals. The Miracle in Montreal is going to be a launching pad to show what TFC is made up this is going to be a statement game to the rest of the MLS.

Does anyone know if there will be a pre-game ceremony/ Voyageurs Cup presentation?

As per Paul B (MLSINTORONTO):

Hope so. Coaches want to keep the guys focused on the road ahead...not give them any excuses, so we're still working on it. At this point I'd say we'll do something after warm up, and with one or two players to represent the team. Need to defer a little bit to the judgement of the coaching staff here, while still giving you all an opportunity to celebrate it.

The good news is the team is not resting on this in any way.

Whatever we do I'll come on here and tell you so you can prepare. For now plan on being at the stadium (in your seat) around 7:10pm.

Anyone know whether Serioux and Guevara will be fit for tomorrow?

As much as I've criticized Guevara for his work rate, when he's on, he's our playmaker and even him being on the field makes the opposition wary

Nuvinho

No Petke as well:

New York Red Bulls defender Mike Petke was suspended an additional two matches and fined another $500 by MLS "for inappropriate conduct and comments made toward the officiating crew" in the June 13 match against Toronto. He sat out one game for the initial red card and, as a result of today's ruling, will also miss tomorrow vs. Toronto and Saturday vs. Columbus.

Serioux has been seriously banged up in the last two matches. I'd like to see him rested at some point, though I'm not sure when is ideal. He looks like he's limp constantly when not in the play. Also, what happened to his wrist? He's been wearing some sort of brace for the last few matches. I have to ask because my girlfriend is wondering.

Serioux can rest from June 28 to July 10. That's about 2 weeks with no TFC games.

That's going to be a tight one for me, the Dufferin bus would have to work brilliantly for me to get there that early.

Damn work in Mississauga getting in the way of all the trophy celebrating.

As for the game, I'm a bit fearful of the post big game hangover, so i'll say we'll struggle in the first half, but frei will keep it down to 1-0 before we get our shit together and we'll come back to win 2-1. De Ro and Vitti.

Not sure whether this warrants a new thread....We have a number of important (they're all important) games coming up and we need for our squad to be focused. As I mentioned in another thread we'll do a trophy presentation but it won't be an all encompassing affair. Rudi will represent the Voyageurs, and we'll present to the team after warmups. Which means that if you want to witness it you should be in your seat around 7:15pm tomorrow.

Can someone help me out by posting at the other SG boards? i'm running late. Thanks

I'd be fine with that line up, I'm intrigued to see how garcia fits in when we've got pretty much our first choice defence out there, rather than the makeshift ones we've had for the two games he's played so far.

As for Barrett or Vitti up front, it depends on where De Ro plays, If the rw spot is open i'd say start with Vitti, if lw is open, go with Barrett.

the question for me is, can NYRB keep up the fight given they will be less rested than TFC and possibly missing key players, and on the road, where they have "sucked the bag" to use an old grade school phrase. Given that the last game was Thursday for TFC, they'll have had almost a week off to rest up and will be playing pretty much a #1 lineup. The crowd will also be pumped after seeing the Cup. Either New York's subs and starters come out fighting or they'll crash almost as bad as Montreal.

So Mendes + Boyens at CB. It's like another red card/penalty waiting to happen
