View Full Version : Rohan Ricketts - Respect

Since it makes no sense to pile on a guy who is no longer part of the club, I just wanted to make a thread for folks to pay their respects to Mr. Ricketts.

Was a great public face for the club, and a class individual every time I've seen him.

Things got a little... weird?... towards the end, with Twitter-gate and what not, but whatever.

There will always be a dispute about whether you truly got the chance you deserved here, but I'd prefer to pay my respects for things you DID do, and do well. I will always remember the brace you got in your first game, and wearing the Jamaica jacket during the Canadian WCQ match, haha.

For sure

The day he potted two was a one of the best days at the park so far.

We could have done much worse than the time spent with Rohan.

Rohan was a good voice for the club. I'll miss rollin' with Ricketts. I just wish he could have gotten rollin' for TFC.

Classy guy. One of the only TFC players I've actually had a conversation with. I personally think he deserved more playing time, specially the way Vitti and Barrett have played this year. Anyways, Ricketts was the best soap opera that ever hit TFC :)

I hope you stay in TO for a year and move over to Vancouver... I'd be much happier to have you playing some place in Canada.

Rohan was a class guy who quickly adopted Toronto and the fans, got involved in charity work, promoted soccer and TFC in the city. Sometimes it just does not work out professionally. Hope he lands on his feet somewhere.

All the best!

Part of the allure of football is the personality and characters in the game. Ricketts understands that, and I appreciate that. I don't think he played as well here as we expected him to (and himself too I think), and I'm sorry for that. I'll continue to follow his future efforts in the game and wish him well.

I was always hoping he was going to become more at the club because I really thought he was a great person as far as his personality and charity work. Good luck Ricketts. I will always be a fan.

Didn't work out as we hoped but he did a lot in raising awareness for the club and I'll always be grateful to him for that.

Was never used properly. A natural Guevara sub, he was never really comfortable wide.

Best of luck, Rohan.

Rohan is indeed a Class act.
He didn't hesitate to take me up on my invite to show up at Joe's to take in a game before he signed with the team.

He met with me privately so I could give hime some material I thought he'd be interested in, that I'd burned to DVD.
I figured it would be a quick hand off, and a thanks, and off you go, but he invited me in, and proceeded to talk footie with me for the better part of an hour.

Every time he saw me, he'd be sure to acknowledge me, even if he couldn't break away to come say hi.

He never failed to show awe at the support we bring game after game, and I know it meant a lot for him to bring success to the club for us.

Rohan has the talent, but wasn't able to make it work for him here in more than flashes. A real shame, because he loved this city, and it's fans.

Best of luck to you my friend. I hope you're signed quickly.

I'm forever grateful for the work Rohan did in Toronto. His charity work, promoting soccer and TFC in the city, and that day in June of last year when he potted a pair of goals. He also signed my 'You Don't Mess With The Rohan' banner. Thanks Rohan. I will always be a fan.

I'll never forget that game against the rapids.

That was fucking awesome.

I'm disappointed he wasn't given half the chances Barret gets (and continues to get), because he's a superior player by far.

Good luck Rohan.

Rohan was a class act and a player with serious ball skills.

I'm sure he would still be here if we were playing 4-4-2, but he didn't fit in the new formation, he is clearly a winger and isn't suited to other positions. No reflection on his ability, and I hope he does well in the future.

Respect. I feel bad, I thought that he would put it all together here. He has tallent. He should not give up, instead he should focus. He can still achieve his potential.

He was all set up to be the hero last year after he opened the scoring against Montreal at home...

Shame to see him go because I thought he had a skill set that the team could exploit.
