MLSE is prepared to subsidize the alternate location for the city according to Anselmi. Talking about Lamport as an option.

EDIT: Lamport is the most obvious one and that's what they are focused on!

Shakes McQueen

Wow, Anselmi just said straight up that MLSE is willing to pay whatever the cost is for another facility.

These are some of the strongest statements I've heard from him regarding the whole grass issue.

Lakeshore is not working (space wise). Looks like Lamport is the trade off.

No stadium expansion on the radar.

Pure sales pitch for Real Madrid. He asked Bob at the end if he was coming to the Real Madrid game. I wonder how those tickets are selling.

I wouldn't think so. There pretty tight lipped about everything MLSE is usually. Looks like our actions helped the situation.

The way he said it, he made it sound like it was more a matter of whether another option was available though, not that the money was a problem. In fact, he specifically seemed to say money was NOT an issue. That was my interpretation of him saying they are ready to "step up".

When would grass have to be laid by in order to have it ready to play ball on?

The interview started with Brunt and McCown asking him about the Real Madrid game, and Brunt said Bob should go to the game. That was why they referenced it at the end. This was before I could get a thread up letting everyone know about the interview.

Anselmi has actually been on a few times in the past year or so, to talk about grass and expansion. Though I certainly think his more definitive statements on the issue are due to supporter pressure.

Spring. They'd lay down permanent sod ad repair it as it gets torn up until it took proper root.

Somebody ask Duane Rollins if Anselmi goes on to Prime Time Sport to talk about TFC and grass if the supporters hadn't of made noise and then ask if the protest was unecessary.

That's good. I remember watching Stade Saputo getting built and they had the grass down the previous fall. Thought that might have been the way it had to be done.

Just repeating what was obviously a somewhat exaggerated statement.

the funny thing is, even that didn't work.. there were so many potholes on the Saputo grass once the season got going. It didn't lay roots.

I wonder if they could use that Grassmaster product... you put down real grass and then shoot in these artificial strands that the real grass grows around for strength.

Thats the way you'd do it if you did it properly from the begining - plant it early and let it take root before it's played on. That option is out the window now, our off-season isn't long enough and it takes place over the winter. We'd have to use sod & keep repairing it until it took root and became a proper grass pitch.

Is that what they used at the JJB? Apparently the players don't like that much either...

the only reason I suggest Grassmaster is to help prevent what happened in Montreal.
They were able to lay grass down in the fall even (much earlier than TFC will be able to), but it still never set roots by the following spring. Perhaps with this stuff, it would be able to stay together without coming up in divots as it surely will.

look at all the divots on Google maps!!!

looks like the south end (picture orientated) looks like the busier of the two nets. Maybe this is where we pot all our goals tommorrow.

No shit. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.
Not as many sellouts as last season. Even to get someone to go is tougher this year than past.
Still think they should pursue this csz this will bite them in the ass at some point.

Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Tottenham, West Ham, Man City, and Real Madrid all play on it

At the JJB they use something else called "Desso Pitch":

Manager Steve Bruce said: "The pitch was half artificial with plastic weaved into the grass. But it became too firm.
"They constructed the new pitch on top of that, but the water and roots cannot get through. You can just grab hold of the pitch and pull it out.
"Our players don't like it. The groundsman works and tries as hard as he can.

"The thing needs ripping up and starting again.
"It's historically been bad. They put Desso in it so it was half artificial – Manchester City have got the same. But the pitch has got no root growth at all."

Apparently that's been replaced because the JJB 'facts and figures' web page says that only 2% of the pitch is synthetic now.

The thing is I don't need McCown to like Footy, none of us do.

I actually like listening to him as his opinions more often than not are informed, thought out and communicated intelligently.

I don't think I agree with people that would freak out on him.
