Does anyone know what the rule is for flag poles at stade saputo? I'm sitting in the section next to their fake as supporters section and I want to bring a two stick. Any ideas?

Do yourself a favor and stand with the rest of us in 223.

I guarentee you they will start shit. Anyone who went last year knows what a classless bunch they are. Dont even go to the washroom by yourself, just piss over the side of the stadium.

Does security there care if people jam into that section without tickets. I was thinking being in 115 was a good idea at the start but now I'm second guessing it. I'm not gonna start anything with them, I just wanted to be in the mix for the atmosphere - I wasn't there last year so I'm interested to hear your thoughts

Security will not even ask to see your ticket if you are wearing red. If by some insane chance they do just ask someone going into the section to grab some tickets off someone already inside and bring them back out for you. People will help you out no problem.

Absolutely do not go into 115 or even anywhere near that end of the stadium. Don't expect them to treat you with the same respect you would show them. It wont happen. And when shit hits the fan you can be sure security there will select whatever option is most likely to fuck you over. The cops? They'll tell you to go back to Toronto. Went there 3 times last year for games I know the score. Montreal is not like other MLS away matches.

^ Probably a good idea. No sense in riling up UM02 by standing in the neighbouring section. I remember what the crowd was like at the Canada/Honduras WCQer, and I really didn't like the fact that we were surrounded by Honduran fans.

But ya stay out of 115. Besides you can't see the video display there for replays anyways. ;)

Good thinking..I will need to get a good view of the monitor as I am streaking across the field after TFC's 4th goal is scored in the 88th minute! :scarf:

Exactly. This should be about having respect for supporter's culture. If we want and are expecting away trips to become a bigger part of football in North America, then we'd have to organize and act in the way that can make it successful. Part of that is separating the supporters sections. BMO isn't perfect, but you don't have other supporters waving flags next to the south end or the NEE.

Of course, another part of this organizing is on the stadiums to do security right, and I really don't get the sense that Stade Supputo has learned much.

Stade Saputo regulations for this game: No visiting team jerseys, scarves or any other promotional TFC items will be allowed in the East Grandstand (sections 112 to 116)

If you are still intent on this very bad and stupid idea you had of sitting next to UM02 (and yes I did read the original thread where you bragged about this and most of the RPB said it was a bad idea) do not wear your colours and be very well behaved. As others have suggested it is probably a good idea to try and get in the TFC away section. The best way to do this is have someone go in and get other tickets of other people already in the section and bring them to you so you can get past the people checking tickets (if they are in fact checking tickets, this year they have been less vigilant than last year). I will also recommend to the Impact that they be lenient in allowing people wearing TFC colours into the away section even if they have tickets elsewhere but they may or may not take this advice.

As per flagpoles in other sections, UM are allowed plastic flagpoles, other materials are forbidden. I don't know whether flagpoles are allowed in the away section but that is a question that your trip organizers should be able to provide you assuming they have asked Impact management about this.

There have definitely been security problems at Stade Saputo in the past. The club is making an effort to improve things and I think security will be better than last year at least. How much better remains to be seen.

Stade Saputo is also smaller than BMO and it is thus harder to keep the supporters groups separated from each other. I think a few common sense things can reduce the risk of problems.

1)When UM enters the stadium it is best if the TFC fans are in the stands instead of wandering around the entry area. Once UM is past would be a better time for TFC fans to buy beer etc.

2)There are beer and concession booths near the main entrance and washrooms near section 101. Last year many TFC supporters used the washroom and concession stands near the East grandstand between sections 116 and 117 which inevitably results in contact between the two supporters groups. These areas will have security but it is better for the TFC supporters to stay out of the east side of the stadium.

If you want a concrete answer to this or other questions you need to have your tour organizor who I think is Naturegirl ask the club. I have never had a problem bringing my digital camera or video camera in the stadium. There is another member of UM with a professional looking camera complete with large lense and he has not had a problem as yet either. However, I do not know what official stadium policy is on this. If it is regular looking you won't have a problem but if it looks professional there is a possibility though I think it is small.

For those of you going on the trip to Montreal here is some of the rules and regs just sent to us by the FO and security Please read them.

They have placed Johhny on the spots below our section, 223 and the top of 222 for all TFC fans to use. This is to avoid supporters having to walk across the stadium to use the facilities beside the Impact section.

All TFC fans are to enter and exit at the main gate. There will a much bigger police force there this year. We will be held with protection by security, in our section or right below it in the beer garden area until the stadium has cleared out. We will be escorted to the main exit when they feel its safe and there will be a police force and security along the way to the subway.
Lets hope they mean it this time, as they throw us out the door and shut them behind us with nothing last year after inciting and incidents inside, to walk alone to the buses and subway.

Absolutely no red gear in the east stands at all.

They are very aware that TFC fans have bought tickets in 115. It was not sopose to happen and under no circumtances will these people be allowed in the east section at all. When they arrive, they will be escorted to 222 with us where seats have been put aside for those that need to be relocated.

Further exerts from an email from Impact FO

Hello Connie,

My name is Eric and I’m in charge of stadium operations at Saputo Stadium. In response to your recent email, please take note of the following security measures during your visit at Saputo Stadium. I would ask for your full cooperation in order to make this a safe and enjoyable evening for everybody attending the game that night.

Porta-potties will be placed near your section.
Toronto FC supporters will be asked to remain in their section until the entire stadium has been evacuated
There will be police and stadium security in both the TFC supporter section as well as the Impact’s supporter section the entire game.
Preceding the game there will police present from Saputo Stadium all the way to the subway station.
Toronto FC supporters are asked to enter and exit from the main entrance.

I would like to discuss certain security issues during the match and to plan a safe way back.

Please take note that for security reasons no visiting team jerseys, scarves or any other promotional TFC items will be allowed in the East Grandstand.
