Toronto FC delighted with 'ugly' victory
Dichio notches winner just before halftime as Toronto ends losing streak at three games
Daniel Girard
Toronto FC found the perfect way to end a slump – host the New York Red Bulls.
Two first-half goals proved to be enough as TFC hung on to win 2-1 before 19,843 fans at BMO Field last night, extending New York's winless streak on the road to 20 games.

Toronto FC stands tall in second half
Reds hold off charging Red Bulls for win at BMO
By Mark Polishuk
TORONTO -- Any victory is welcome on the heels of a three-game losing streak, but the way that Toronto FC collected a 2-1 win against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday at BMO Field was particularly heartening, if a bit nerve-racking, for the club. "We got the second goal at a vital time today because we weren't playing to our maximum," said forward Danny Dichio. "We weren't at our best today but we grinded one out and sometimes you need to do that."

Red Bulls give TFC wings
Paul Attfield
The irony was there for all to see.
Having flattered to deceive in the goal-scoring stakes of late, letting numerous points slip away in the process, it took the arrival of a new centre back for Toronto FC to show a concerted cutting edge up front.
But whether the players felt an obligation to do so to take some of the pressure off Nick Garcia, or simply because they were playing the league’s joint worst team was irrelevant.

Reds hang on against Red Bulls to stop slide
Dichio's rebound goal the difference in TFC win
By Mark Polishuk
TORONTO - Toronto FC snapped their three-game losing streak and continued the New York Red Bulls' road woes with a 2-1 result on Saturday evening at BMO Field. Sam Cronin's first MLS goal, scored just three minutes into the game, got TFC out to an early lead, and Danny Dichio's rebound goal in the 43rd minute proved to be the winner as the Reds held on in the face of solid pressure from New York in the second half.

Cronin's first powers TFC
THE CANADIAN PRESS
TORONTO -- Toronto FC midfielder Sam Cronin always knew he'd eventually score his first professional goal. But he certainly wasn't expecting it when it came.
Cronin drilled home the rebound of Amado Guevara's missed penalty kick just three minutes in, and Toronto FC went on to defeat the New York Red Bulls 2-1 at BMO Field on Saturday.

Toronto FC ends losing skid
John F. Molinaro
After being given an average grade by the general manager, Toronto FC responded with an "A-for-effort" performance.
Veteran forward Danny Dichio and rookie midfielder Sam Cronin scored first-half goals to lift Toronto to a 2-1 win over New York on Saturday night in the first of two straight MLS home games against the Red Bulls.

Ray of hope for Toronto FC
Dichio snaps the team's scoring drought and helps it put an end to a three-game losing streak
LANCE HORNBY (lance.hornby@sunmedia.ca)
Danny Dichio took a few strides toward the noisiest corner of BMO Field, turned his hand as if to crank up the volume control and concluded by booting the corner flag off its base.
That was the exclamation mark to the end of Toronto FC's scoring drought before 19,843 fans. But a shaky second half in its own zone during last night's 2-1 win over the last-placed New York Red Bulls doesn't end all doubt about the club's playoff pedigree.

Toronto FC break losing streak, defeat Red Bulls
Eric Koreen
TORONTO - Carl Robinson was so stunned, he needed to check with the authorities.
The Toronto FC midfielder had watched earlier this season as two hand ball calls against his teammate Marvell Wynne doomed his team. TFC lost three potential points because of those calls.
So when New York Red Bulls defender Seth Stammler slipped and knocked the ball in the box with his hand - in the second minute, no less - he was not expecting the penalty kick call that was awarded.
