Good guy. Kept us in games at the worst of our times.

I remember the game in DC at the start of 2008. They out shot up 15-1 or something. And those 15 were all on target. We lost 4-1, and he was the only reason that it wasn't closer to 15-1.

Things just didn't work out, it's a shame. He was a Canadian, and a class act at that. Hopefully he gets some first team action somewhere very soon, he deserves it. He played behind one of the shittiest defences in the league for 2 seasons, and did his best.

Greg, I hope you read this. Thank You.

As for Sutton, he was the last person i would have wanted to see leave the team. Such a professional this guy was, never complained about playing time or anything.

Of all the players that should go...this is who they release?

I can't say I agree with this move. Frei comes down with another foot infection or something, we're putting Edwards in there? I haven't seen anything from him to inspire confidence.

.

3 keepers is a luxury in MLS. and if the most expensive one is not starting, that's even more of a problem to the cap. I'm sure Greg wouldn't want to sit around as a backup for 2 years anyways. Backup jobs are great for a young keeper who needs some seasoning, like Edwards. I liked the play of Edwards in limited duty (particularly his distribution).

but Greg was a good guy.

Thanks SUTTS!

If this is to pick up Garcia's salary, I'm not sure it's such a great deal, even with our obvious centre back problems. Garcia doesn't look better to me than either Serioux or Nana, so it's a hell of an expensive backup plan.

On the other hand, if we sign Gerba and he scores 10 goals in the second half of the season, we'll all probably forgive the useless little Glaswegian.

^ I did not want to say anything bad about Garcia, as I cannot remember him one way or the other, but I did not think he was any better then Serioux or Nana, as I also figure him for a back up. Which as you note is expeinsive by MLS standards.

Back to topic. Sutton deserves prays if for nothing else his professionalism.

I'm not sure Garcia was targeted by Mo. I think it's more likely Mo wants Gerba, and the only way he could get the rights was to take Garcia. Garcia has not been impressing lately, and his hit on the cap is substantial.

Of all the guys on the team, past and present, that I've interviewed in the past 3 years, Sutton is the classiest of them all (along with Robo).

Frei looks like a #1 that will be gone!!! He won't be with Toronto in a year or 2. That means your comfortable with Edwards as your defacto #1.

I really think this was a little premature on Goodtime Mo's part. I guess we will see.

Absolutely! Think of how tough this year has been for him. If he had gripes, he kept it internal. NO twittergates, meltdowns etc. and he's had as much to gripe about as anyone.

I think this might be the first time I am genuinely sad to see a player leave TFC.

Quality guy, quality keeper, quality attitude.

There's only ooooooooooone Gregor Sutton....

Very sad to see him go. Great keeper, Play that bad game in Vancouver but what a game he play in Columbus after coming on at half time in the first game of the season.
thats my fav memory of sutton in a tfc uniform, we needed him to hold the fort and he did. hope he finds work in football still

I agree that Greg could have a lucrative career in broadcasting. He's always struck me as a bit of a quite guy, though when he does speak it's very informative or interesting.
