It's a word Toronto FC fans have been dreaming of – almost as much as …
Playoffs!
Now, it's still too early to know if one word leads to the other, but yesterday's 2-0 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy at BMO Field was certainly an encouraging sign.
TFC is moving up in the MLS standings this season, largely thanks to an ongoing roster rebuild that has brought in midfielders Amado Guevara, Lauren Robert and Rohan Ricketts. Several other intriguing newcomers – and veterans – have been languishing on the bench, waiting for their chance.
Well, thanks to international commitments for Canada, Honduras and Wales, nagging knocks to striker Danny Dichio and centre back Tyrone Marshall, as well as a silly, self-indulgent red-card suspension to Robert, the Toronto starting line-up gaped open yesterday, and we all learned a great and encouraging deal more about Canada's lone MLS side.
Not that the Galaxy were at full strength either. A banged-up Landon Donovan didn't play, and Some guy named Beckham was away captaining England or some such fluffy indulgence or other.
