I don't know what to make to of SportsNet's claims that we have a chance to win the Cup in Montreal... As far as the CSA is concerned, the tournament is OVER, and Vancouver is the Canadian Champions...

Here's the tie-breaker rules (should we beat Montreal and actually tie Vancouver in pts)...

1. Most points in all group matchs; (Van-9 / Tor-9)
2. If two or more teams are tied, then the team with the greatest number of points in matches featuring tied teams; (Van-3 / Tor-3)
3. If teams are still tied, then the greater goal difference in matches featuring tied teams; (Tor -1 / Van +1) VANCOUVER WINS!!!
4. If teams are still tied, then the greater number of goals scored in matches featuring tied teams;
5. If teams are still tied, then greatest goal difference in all matches;
6. If teams are still tied, then greatest number of goals scored in all matches;
7. If teams are still tied, then drawing of lots.

According to the CSA & rules of the tournament - Vancouver is the Canadian Champions - and will receive the Cup in Montreal on June-18th!

If the rules suddenly change - there's a huge problem & FIFA should get involved...

There are some articles insinuating TFC still got a shot.

The MLS website says this:

The Reds needed to avoid defeat against the Whitecaps in British Colombia to lift the first trophy in the club's history, but they must now beat Montreal Impact by four goals in the final game of the tournament to advance as Canada's representative in the CONCACAF Champions League.

But I still believe the CSA got it right though #2 on that tie-breaker should represent all teams in the tourney just not the 2 tied.

Unless the MLS and CSA change the rules in mid-tournament - its over :(

And if they do change the rules to give us a shot - thats awful...

^ Where are you getting your info, Carts?

Toronto FC, the Toronto Star, Sportsnet, the Globe and Mail, and the CBC all claim Toronto still has a small chance of winning (ie: beating Montreal by more than 4 goals).

There has been absolutely no mention of the Whitecaps winning the NCC.

As per discussions in these threads:

http://www.redpatchboys.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=14033
http://www.redpatchboys.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=13965

According to the CSA, they screwed up the press release when they sent it out and #2 and #3 only apply when all three teams are tied on points.

Why do we have three threads with essentially the same discussions going on?
