A TFC playoff run or a Long run for Canada at the gold cup?

I'll say TFC...If it was Canadian WC qualifying I'd probably vote differently.

TFC....Gold cup is still a bit of a novelty, and it's not like winning it will raise canadas profile.

Totally agree. The Gold Cup still isn't that high quality yet. Rather see us go on a great run in the MLS playoffs and hopefully do some damage this year.

we've already won a gold cup so TFC

^ Same with me. I don't sink a lot of emotion into the Gold Cup, but I think I would still prefer it over TFC in the playoffs. I dunno. It's hard to say now that I think of it.

TFC by a mile. Now if you had said World Cup then my answer would have been different!

I'm still a bigger supporter of Canada than TFC, so I would go with the Gold Cup in an average year. However, since TFC has never made the playoffs and Canada will be fielding a youthful squad in a post-WCQ tournament, I'll go with a TFC playoff run in this case. Come 2011 (the year before the next round of WCQ begins), I'll probably choose the Gold Cup option.

TFC, no doubt in my mind. ill be honest and say i am not a supporter of the Canadian National team at all. the last time i saw Canada national team play was against Turkey in 1995 in Toronto.

I'll certain say that I'm far more excited for this iteration of the tournament then lasts.

thats exactly how I feel about it. This years Gold Cup is nothing more than a trial run for the youngsters

Gold Cup.
We saw how having a good run at the last Gold Cup tourney did nothing to help us out for the WCQ.
Need to do well at this tourney and start slowly working up the FIFA rankings in order to prepare for the next WCQ...

Now if it was TFC in playoffs or TFC in the Champions League that would be a tough one... but I would lean towards the Champions League...

I gotta go with Gold Cup. A long playoff run is definetly important but it's still a ways off to get excited about yet.

Completely agree. Gold Cup we've won, and I'd much rather make the World Cup. The Reds, however, have not won anything yet. CCL and MLS Cup PLEASE!!!

Let me just inject some snobbery here.:)

So should I vote for club when I don't want to see the league with a playoff format or country when I don't want to see the Gold Cup regional competition with an irregular schedule (every _?_ years).

Draw goes to Country before Club.

See you in Columbus?:canada:

By getting through a semi-final where the opposition had a perfectly good goal ruled out? ;)

the US team has much bigger things to worry about than the gold cup! I wish i could say the same for the Canadian team :(

I just to not care about the MLS that much, I would rather see a long run in Champions league, and a good showing from Canada in a Gold Cup, then winning the MLS cup. I would like all three, obviously but winning this silly league is just silly.

it didnt when we won in in 2001..and i think TFC have a more better shot of short term success then Canada, Canada is in need of a major rebuilding job from the CSA offices on down and that may take awhile

I watched them win it. It was the first time I admit. I've watched ever since. I've met new supporters that will continue to try to raise awareness if not the profile of our team.

Bomber, the increments we're dealing with here isn't as important as the direction. :canada:

Hey I'm pumped for the Gold cup, hoping we do well. Luckily this is a purely hypothetical thread...but I think TFC would make me happier at this point, and it'd be bigger for Canadian soccer as well

For me?

Qualify for WC > TFC CONCACAF Champs > TFC MLS Cup > Gold Cup

It's about the size of the prize, and I just don't rate the Gold Cup that high.

im a club over country person only for the fact the CSA has run the program into the ground and there is NO signs of any major improvement in the near future..

I am Canadian first! So Canada is more important to me than TFC (especially how they played tonight)
