Dichio connects the dots in Toronto FC's offence
English striker the most influential player on the pitch in TFC's 3-1 win over the New England Revolution
PAUL ATTFIELD

Week in and week out, there are certain names that pick themselves when head coach Chris Cummins fills out his Toronto FC team sheet. Injury absences aside, Dwayne De Rosario, Amado Guevara and Carl Robinson are never likely to find themselves on the bench at kickoff, and statistics certainly show why.
Maybe it's time to add Daniele Salvatore Dichio to that list.

Turf the artificial turf at BMO Field
MLSE appears to be frittering away a chance to turn Toronto into a prime destination for the world's most popular sport
Jeff Blair
This will no doubt be reinforced Monday, when the Canadian women's soccer team plays the United States in Toronto at BMO Field, in a game that will prove once again that the sport has no place being played on artificial turf. Two weeks ago, TFC star Dwayne De Rosario told CBC TV that “the turf's got to go,” and that he's “sick of it.” Me too. It's not just the potential for injury; it's the impact it has on a player's ability to control the ball. Soccer on fake turf is a bastardization.

Canada's Sinclair eyes lofty soccer milestone
Teammates rooting for their leader to find net against U.S. tonight
Daniel Girard
Canada's most prolific soccer scorer is on the verge of another milestone.
Christine Sinclair heads into tonight's home game against the defending Olympic champion United States one short of 100 goals in an outstanding international career that began as a teenager.
"I'm trying not to put pressure on myself," the 25-year-old Sinclair said of goal No.100. "But obviously it would be very sweet to have it happen here in Toronto, and against the Americans."

Article on Dino Rossi on Metro News:

Making a difference
Dino Rossi takes a chance to support national teams
Ben Rycroft

It’s never been easy to be a soccer fan in Canada. From problems that start with the CSA, the sport’s organizing body, to a lack of mainstream media coverage, to the politics that have crippled the game here — it has left more than a few fans of the beautiful game disenfranchised.

But one man, and a few others like him, have taken it upon themselves to circumvent the politics and start making changes on their own

Toronto FC has struggled to score goals at home this season while creating a boatload of chances. Goal.com's Kyle McCarthy explains why an ugly win over New England might give them some time to figure out how to finish the pretty plays they create.

Yes good job Dino and thanks for taking that on. I think for the next Men's game...a group of people should buy every single ticket ! (other than the 10% that FIFA withhelds).

If Dino has any tickets left for tonight, I might take a couple. How to get in touch with him?

"Vancouver will become Canada's new soccer destination, not Toronto, as long as something simple such as putting down a proper surface is so beyond everybody".

Jeff Blair is dead on and it's unbelieveable that Toronto FC don't have a training facility...is it so hard to buy a field...

I totally agree, but MLSE doesn't like to spend it's own money, almost all of the buildings they manage, BMO, Richo, GM Centre in Oshawa were all paid for with taxpayers money and are all controlled by MLSE.

^Umm, no. BC Place is gonna have turf too.

It all depends on how quickly the wheels of bureaucracy move in our respective cities. If Toronto gets grass before Vancouver gets its waterfront stadium, then we'll be Canada's home. If Vancouver gets its new stadium and we still have field turf, all of our NT games will head out west.

MLSE are in negotiations right now to build a multi field training facility near the lakeshore lions arena. They are footing the bill for it but need to go through the political channels to get the land approved for the usage.

That's not entirely correct.
From what I understand there is some public financing involved as well as some $1.5 Million from a fund by a developer for a community centre.
This facility will encompass this in order for MLSE to get access to those funds.

Another story on field turf...FFS the writer should look into the facts...MLSE dont OWN the stadium the city of Toronto does..so its them that should be blamed for
the lack of grass at BMO not MLSE. The Feds and Prov governments mandated
the stadium be also used for public use..grass would not likley survive all the wear and tear earlier on in April and May when we have questionable weather. If they can get the local groups to play out of a new lakeshore lions park, great..but that may take a while..BMO will have field turf at least till 2011 unless a miracle happens.

Actually, good point. I think I am making an assumption there and that may not be the case.

I am pretty skeptical on the whole thing, the only point that is for sure is that it takes time. We are seeing pressure from a lot of places right now and I hope its in an effort to make this process quicker but you never know until its done.

I guess the round-robin MLS management has decided that it's TFC's turn.
